THAT was a good game. So VERY good to see Greiss FINALLY get the W. That guy’s worked his ass off and deserves it. Soooo many good things today, past 2 games really.

Third period summary is up. Gergeswillems should start the Psychic Friends Network back up. Greiss with a monster game, Smith with the Gordie. I owe Marc Staal an apology. Good game from the veteran defender

Third Period and wrap - Congrats to Greiss! He more than earned a win here. Givani Smith with the Gordie Howe hat trick also managed to get Ekblad off the ice for 5 of the last 7 minutes. That Smith was penalized on the Weegar hit but Gudas wasn’t for Glendening makes me hope that Gudas will not be available to play on Wednesday. Also, a big game from Marc Staal. I’ve not been overly kind to the veteran defenseman pickup, but he was a big factor today. Greiss stopped 36 of 37, wow. Lots of good effort from the boys in Red and White along with stellar tending and some really fortunate bounces. It’s a different room right now, and someone owes Greiss and Smith a steak dinner. A lot of good stuff. Florida has so many pieces in place to be a contender. This win was a huge feather in the cap of a team that badly needed it. I won’t sugar coat it, with this same effort Florida would win 9 of 10. Very fortunate to have one go Detroit’s way.

For those who missed the pregame, I openly wondered if this third meeting would end up as forgettable as a straight to DVD sequel, or be “Return of the Jedi” good. The Ewok village is playing drums on Panther helmets tonight. (Yes, that was pretty nerdy. What do you do?). Enjoy this one faithful readers. It’s been a long time coming. Gergeswillems called the win, and has earned the right to dominate the comments! Get em G.

Great win! Finally something to feel good about! We didn't get the bounces vs Tampa but we got a few in this game. Hopefully we can build off this win and create some momentum. Greiss has played so well for us and is much better than what his stats say. So happy to see him get the W.

I think our patience has paid off with Givani Smith. Great game by him. Blashill better keep him in the lineup. He was all over the ice. Hitting. Creating scoring chances. Knocking out Ekblad! This isn't a one off! We're winning again on Tuesday gang! 👍

There truly needs to be league action on Gudas, G. Totally directed toward the upper body with his shoulder. Replay after replay shows he zeroed in and didn’t deviate the angle of attack. I’m a fan of the physical, but that crossed the line.

Smith was amazing, but he’s paid his dues (in SO many more ways than ice time) and he’s a damn good kid. If he doesn’t stay, it’ll be a travesty.

Staal played well, but 1 goal doesn’t erase the fact that he’s weighing the D end down.

Stecher’s something, isn’t he???? Nice get for us and was all over the place the past 2 games. I like what I see, but he still needs to work to get into the groove and make a difference.

Mantha was “just” a healthy scratch?!?!? What the SHIRT is Blahhell thinking?? I got the fact that guys need motivation, but come ON!!! Mantha’s starting to ignite. Hey, Jeffie, SIT FILS N FRANS!!! Good Lord have mercy. What a maroon....

That was a predatory hit by Gudas. When I was a kid playing pee wee in the 80s that was a clean hit. A Scott Stevens special. But in today's game that same hit is supposed to be illegal. I don't expect Gudas to be suspended. Bettman hates the Red Wings.

Yeah Staal still stinks and Stecher gets overwhelmed by big forwards. He's earned himself a job in this league by working his ass off even though he's a small guy. He just can't defend well against top lines. Problem is with this team we only have one legitimate top 4 defenseman and that's Hronek.
