Played two years but that would have been 2011 was his last year. - VANTEL
He was done, it was smart letting him walk. He had 5 points in 2011, Ehrhoff had 50. |

The radio guys make 80k a year, Canucks management makes millions a year - Pacificgem
Still some merit though. But I agree that’s it’s somewhat apples to oranges, especially since Bell just got a nice chunk of change from Trudeau and co.
And apparently 1040 was kicking 650’s ass in ratings so it makes Rogers look like the good guys and Bell look like the evil big corporation. |

I have been to a few media guys homes . I think they make more than 80 K . Doesn't Donnie live up in the rich part of Coquitlam? Pratt owned a huge condo in Yaletown

I’m sure the more known guys get good contracts but I’m not crying for GM’s like Gillis or Benning who are worth millions. |

I don't know but Gillis brought in David Booth and Keith Ballard in the year 2011 . They were two brutal contracts to take.

From what I know(friend of a friend type of deal), the bigger name guys with experience make over 100K and the fresher faces makes closer to 70-80K |

Gillis is a professor at UVic, no? I think he's got too big of an ego to return to the NHL as an assistant GM, seems like he wants full control and I can see why an owner would be reluctant to do that.
Benning will probably land on his feet as a scout/head scout or AGM.
It's like NFL head coaches who get fired, they almost always get offered offensive or defensive coordinator jobs right away lol. |

I actually think he's had a way longer leash than Gillis did with the media(not fans). People like Jim as a person, the media all talk about how nice of s guy he is, they probably feel bad for him. Hell, even us fans felt bad for him when he got scolded by the league about talking about Subban. I decided to listen to 650 for a bit today, and even during all of this turmoil, they still seem hesitant to call out management completely, if anything they're calling out the players.
Friedman seems to like him and he even talks about how the fans in this market are crazy(in a bad way), he's the one who's mentioned the Subban trade that fell apart because Dubois got picked before the Canucks were on the clock so they took OJ instead of getting Subban. it's not a hindsight thing either where he tied to make JB look bad, this came out when Subban was in Nashville and still considered to be a top end dman.
Turned out to be the lesser of two evils picking OJ
And I'm pretty sure Benning's interest in Lucic was reported by multiple guys, first when he got traded to LA by Boston during the Boeser draft and when he was a UFA but chose Edmonton over Montreal and Vancouver..we got LE instead so another scenario where it was a lose-lose
Hell, I remember there was buzz that he might land both Lucic and LE - Nucker101

There were lineups posted in here with both of them "completing our top 6"
To be fair, back then most people though that they'd be solid for the first 3 or 4 years of their deals and then suck during the last 2 or 3. |

I was in Rob Christies condo and Chuck Chandler . There is no way they were making that little.

They weren’t really, Ballard only made 3.3 million. Neither was prohibitive but they were both terrible players. |

Ballard was solid before the trade, it's crazy how he just fell off. I remember the Yotes used him as a shutdown dman against the Sedins lol.
Booth was just a dumb player. |

He's getting up there in age, I don't think he'll get that chance. I read some of his leaked proposal to Pittsburgh, he wants more control and resources than I bet most owners are comfortable giving him |

100k dollars isn’t that much, you’re still paying a long term mortgage in Vancouver making that kind of money. Unless you’re old like Donnie. Probably bought his house for 200k in the 80’s. |
