Not much else they can do. I can’t imagine how difficult replacing your coaching staff in season would be this year. What do you do, fire your coaching staff and just go without for 14 days as the new staff quarantines?
- CubanBuffet

They could fire Benning he's not doing anything and doesn't need to be replaced right away.

I made up the Ferarro thing but the Luongo rumor is trending
- VANTEL

He didn't want to live in Vancouver before what makes us think he'll want to move back??

First hiccup and it will be 'honey I'm coming back to Florida'...

Has it been 33 minutes yet?
- Pacificgem

We doubled it tonight because it was a moral victory.

They must think Luongo is management material, because Canada named him to a minor role for the Canadian Olympic team, something they tend to do on all international tournaments, to get some new guys some experience in management.
I would be okay with Sean Burke as GM, although not my top choice.

honest q. tanev has missed so many games over the years how have they have never been this bad defensively?
- johnnykarate

Every year under green Tanev's defensive numbers dropped significantly

then shot up directly after he left.

Vancouver has been trash at 5v5 for YEARS
Tanev wouldn't have done much this year to stem this.

I like both of them, but had forgotten about Mark Hunter.
I was just thinking about Tim Hunter though.

Yup. This is more than a 1 player issue and is going to take a couple years to get out from this situation.

If you do change the GM let him bring his own coaches

i saw a tweet that we need to go like 24-12-4 to sniff the playoffs. one hell of a hot streak is needed. flames have a possible 10 point swing which is scary
- johnnykarate

25-14-1 gives them 65 points, which should be enough.

Yeah, Benning is the only change needed, the new GM will make the changes and corrections.

For sure.
If they are going to change the GM, it should be done sooner rather than later, as it allows the new GM to assess what he has and what he needs, plus it allows him to get the scoutingevaluations in and it doesn't allow the current GM the opportunity to boggle the team up anymore than it already is.

If they are not changing the GM then the coaches need to go . They are getting close to the point of no return. If it is a 40 game year they should start to consider selling off

On one of the fan rumour sites I was on a little earlier, the person suggested trading Quinn Hughes and Jake Virtanen to New Jersey for Ty Smith and Miles Wood.
The reasoning was, it unites the Hughes Brothers and it provides cap relief for the Canucks next year, as Smith has 2 years remaining on his ELC, has 8 points in 9 games and is plus 4.
Interesting.

What the Leafs learned today is that they only have to show up for one period to beat the Canucks
