i think that jb believes he can institute his vision within FA's plan. he thinks that his long term moves will balance out the short term stuff.

the problem is that it just keeps them in no-man's land.

- RealityChecker

He's served his purpose, he built a young core of players via unintentional poor finishes and drafting near the top of the draft, a blessing, however, I think he's gone as far as he can.

I bet Aquilini would pay for another GM if it meant playoff revenue.

I was really hoping that the national humiliation on Hockey Night in Canada would have been enough to fire everyone, now I guess we have to wait until Calgary sweeps them.

At this point it look like that's where things should start.

Markstrom and Tanev were both offered fair contracts and chose to walk for the extra term and 500K...is what it is. Toffolli hasn't scored against anyone other than the Nucks basing keeping him here on 14 games wasn't wise for a long term deal.

You stil want to win games by giving the tough a chance...however the inexperiences really show right now. Is Chatfield better than keeping Stecher? tough one lol

To me it looks like Green and the players have tuned each other out and we all know what needs to happen after that.

- LordHumungous

Stecher is 3 assists in 13 games -3. His team are losers also . He is a number 6 Dman that makes very little impact.

It is time. Fire JB, let Green ride out the season (I don't think he's a terrible coach, but his system and D coach are trash), then let the new GM assess expansion, draft, and coaching going forward.

It's not that I disagree just the I think FA will probably start with Green and see where it goes. FA had JB's back a short while ago can't see him being let go just yet. IMO
- LordHumungous

green's neck is definitely on the block. i think that jb chops it off in a hurry....

but will FA let him? you do make a good point re: FA having jb's back but he seems like a guy who changes his opinion quickly based on emotion.

i see FA telling JB to hold off on any firing (he can use the $ excuse during the pandemic) as a way to see whether he wants to let JB go this offseason.

either way, i think ALL OF US would agree that there is virtually 0% chance that both JB ad TG are here at the start of next season.

you definitely may be proven right.

i am not a myers fan (never have been.) the difference between the two, for me, is that i've had the same opinion of myers' play for several years. aside from this year, i've generally liked schmidt's play.

i've never looked deeply into schmidt's numbers prior to him getting here so you could be right that what we see is what we get. i just think that his play is symptomatic of how the team is playing. that might be just blind hope though.

The first bolded, happens on occasion.
The 2nd bolded, I ask, shouldn't a good player be able to rise above the poor play of his teammates?

I get a kick out of it when people use excuses like, no pre-season games, new coach, new systems etc and not consider the fact that sometimes the player is a product of their former environment, just like they could be the product of their current environment.

don't worry, once he's fired there are going to be several posters who defended his every move but then say, "i knew he was just a transitional gm and his time was up."

7 seasons as a transition. lol. i'd love to hear what a regular tenure for a gm is if 7 years is a transition.

if that is a hard and fast rule as to what makes a good player, we definitely have zero "good players."

I don't think Aquilini enjoys being the laughing stock of the NHL. If they keep losing, everyone is fired.

that just means that one of them will be gone but not necessarily both. if that's the case, the wrong one will still be here.

After 50 years of failure you can be sure about one thing regarding the Canucks on the left coast....a complete (frank)-show when it comes to ownership and management.

Benning needs to be sent down the road and then a new GM will let Green's contact expire and move forward with his own choice for coach....my wish

an FA interview of potential GMs only has 2 questions: will the team make the playoffs next season and who's your daddy?

the first one to say yes and you are daddy, gets the job.

Not that it matters but there is some movement on twitter that Sven is thinking of leaving Utica to go play in Swiss league very soon

Then we will get Weisbrod and cull: he ain’t spending $ until there are fans in the seats. Short sighted (frank)

Just reading the Flyers vs Capitals game is now postponed, Covid protocol. That's the 34th game they've postponed so far. Not gonna get the whole 56 in.

I read this morning that he's been contacted by a Swiss team but his plan is to play the year in Utica and hopefully get called up?

I don't see Aquilini wanting to pay two GMs until 2022. Secondly this is a year where you need strong drafting because of access to drafting. Also I don't know what aquilini told Benning in the summer .

I am sure Luongo is looking forward to coming back to the Looney Bin

- VANTEL

They've been saying that this years draft could be pushed until next year and they will hold two drafts. Every kid drafted this year will be a year further developed and you will have a better idea of what kind of player they will be. 2021(draft in 2022) will be a special year for the draft IMO. Most kids drafted in the 1st round will be able to move right in to the NHL.

shortened season would be the best thing for the canucks....

...in the long run.
