Won’t help us sadly. If benning and Green had the balls to send Lui to Utica then that could make a diff

It will MTA his contract and give us room this year. Possibly allow for a better trade regarding Virtanen?

Awesome, another excuse for the Canucks not making the playoffs.
- Marwood

Some of the crew in here thought I was nuts for picking the Canucks for 6th in the division.

I hate canuck fans. Except the ones here in a sick sort of way my dislike of the fans kind of makes me desire a losing team. Save me Coyotes

who actually responds to polls on the internet?

unless it's a link to "the 1 health trick doctors don't want you to know," or "10 things beautiful women can't resist," i'm not clicking on it!

A couple things I would like to remind people of.
1) We have played 2 more games than the next highest team, which is massive. 3 more than Toronto and 4 more than Montreal. That extra practice time they have gotten makes a HUGE difference in team success. This is not an excuse, but a fact. I still think Green and his entire team outside Ian need to go.

2) Colorado made a splash in the playoffs and then immediately sucked for a couple years. We are where they were in 2015 now, they missed 2 more seasons after that and are now considered a powerhouse.

JB needs to be changed out, but things will get better for us. It just may take a season or two.

I disagree. Aquilini will either hire the wrong person or will be unable to attract a decent GM

aren't you a fan? doesn't that make you part of the fanbase as well that deserves this?

or are you going to say that the loudest ones are usually the idiots when they win or when they lose?

i've always thought that this fanbase and losing are a perfect match after reading some of the ridiculousness after a win.

They need to get rid of the bad contracts, Sutter, Beagle, Roussel, Eriksson & Baertschi, two of those expiring this off-season, get some youth and speed on the team, basically start the process over again with someone that can actually build on the great youth they have.

The only way they can be successful with this group is if they outscore their defensive deficiencies AND get "all-world" goaltending OR play a Jacques Lemaire boring style trap game.

Another choke artist on the payroll, at least Benning was part of a winning team in the Boston Bruins.

I don't see Aquilini wanting to pay two GMs until 2022. Secondly this is a year where you need strong drafting because of access to drafting. Also I don't know what aquilini told Benning in the summer .

I am sure Luongo is looking forward to coming back to the Looney Bin

- VANTEL

lol I wonder if Luongo's 3300 sq ft condo in Yaletown is still available for 3.3mil??

Maybe they think it will be the Sakic effect? We tried that with Linden, it didn't work. As long as FA is the owner we will have massive issues and will not attract the GM's people want/deserve. FA probably knows this and is doubling down on JB. I would wager that he has talked to potential replacements and got laughed at.

Fans also think Gillis is the best GM in Canucks history, despite Quinn being 10x the GM Gillis ever was, and even Burke being better. They base it entirely on the fact that he added minor pieces to a top 5 core and made the SCF once before buggering the team.

GM change would bring about the coaching change anyways. Can't see Benning being removed but Green and a fresh face in the room might be a possibility now.

Gillis kept AV, he might keep green?

Though I agree that FA's personality will cause issues, he will come to a point where he is stuck with JB or will need to concede control to the experts in order to get a good GM.

100% this, no one wants to work for him because of how emotional he is. He's too hands-on with the franchise.

Gillis told Vigneault he had to change is coaching style from a trap style game to an uptempo speed game as we had some good speed on the team. AV did just that. A new GM would have to get Travis Green to do the opposite, go from an uptempo style of game, with a slow team, to more of a trap style game.
