I think Benning had something to do with what happened at 1040.

definitely should be one of the guys interviewed. it would be nice if they interviewed several people. a few that are in the league now (from past GMs to current AGMs) and some guys from the outside (new blood.)

see what the different ideas are out there. pick a gm that can guide in the right direction while building a strong organization.

those are easy words to type. it's the execution by FA that makes the difference. the best thing we can hope for is that FA is being counseled by people who know what they are doing during the process.

Didn’t Leafs fans dislike him? Honestly can’t remember what the reason was for him getting tossed

I think it had to do with Leafs hiring Uncle Lou instead so he decided to leave? Not sure but I think he said when they didn't give him the GM job he was going back to the London Knights.

I just read the SN poll . 56 % of the fans want Luongo back as the GM . How fuked is that
- VANTEL

That’s riot worthy, that is.

Edit:

Although, we could get this exchange:

Reporter: “Roberto, reports were that you were trying to trade Eriksson, Roussel, Beagle, Beartchi, Sutter and Myers at the trade deadline, but weren’t able to pull the trigger on a deal. Did the market soften, or...”

Luongo: “Their contracts suck.”

Lou left and then Shanahan appointed Dubas over Hunter.

I don’t believe (don’t recall?) him being disliked by Leafs fans, as he was really only involved in player development while Lou was making the headlines with his signings, cap shenanigans and trades. Plus they had Babcock as the media lightning rod.

Perhaps one of our regular Leaf nation visitors could comment...

The fact he didn’t look for a job outside of the leafs makes you wonder if he would even have interest

Just reading Paul Chapman . He is bitter and said Bell claimed they were losing money in Vancouver. Then he added the only one not fired was the station manager. He said they were all given 30 minutes to pack up everything or security would escort them out.

You can't deny they had a divided fanbase . With that comes half the sports market. Reality Checker pointed out a few times who listens to radio? If I heard 30 minutes a month of their station that would be a lot for me.

No doubt they had the better staff but I sure wasn't interested in their continuous whining and turned them off years ago back in the Pratt days.

i like futa and hunter. i'd like to talk to a bunch of guys though. that allvin guy seems interesting to talk to. the article mentions he's lacking in trade and salary cap experience which is going to be an issue for anyone outside the league (new.) those are big concerns which makes the management team that much more crucial.

i'm not a fan of karmanos though that's just from the last name. isn't he the hurricanes' owner's son? i really don't like the nepotism in the league but i'm sure he's earned every job.

macfarland seems intriguing. these are the types of new blood that should be heard from. let's get some new perspectives. it doesn't mean that they necessarily should get the top job but a nice mix in the interviews and in the management team would be good.

kevin weekes? HARD no. he's the guy who lied about being robbed as to why he missed practice. reminder that he said that he was instructed to follow the robber (in his own car driving alone) to the ATM which he complied with. either he lied or is the dumbest person in the world. either way, disqualified.

I forget who said it back when TSN lost broadcasting rights , but I think it was DCT. They said 1040 can not survive this market unless they are the opposite of SN . He meant if they were slurppers like SN they would get eaten alive . The station had to be negative. They had a good run it's over.

For the record my family has not spoken French for four generations at least.

I would consider him. I the think the Leafs made the mistake of thinking he was too old school and went with Dubas.

Truthfully I don't think it is a concern. I don't think Benning is being fired. If it does happen then yes he would probably be a name to look at.

this is either the best hockey thing ever or the best slow motion car wreck ever.

remember when hbo did those behind the scenes shows for the winter classic?

i'd pay serious coin for PPV to watch those meetings.
