Yeah, I feel bad for the guys who lost their jobs but it doesn’t take an expert to realize that talk radio isn’t the best industry to be involved with right now, it’s trending downward. I’m sure the guys who had the best numbers will land on their feet on either 650 or by relocating to a different city but the rest may have to look at other options.

They have been very open about wanting Canucks GM and Coaches fired for two years so as they say "Nothing personal ,it's all business".

If you're not cheatin, you're not trying. If they can get away with it why not, the precedent's already been set.

I hate canuck fans. Except the ones here in a sick sort of way my dislike of the fans kind of makes me desire a losing team. Save me Coyotes

There is an opening here for a passionate Coyotes blogger, I think you would be a perfect fit, if you want I’ll put in a good word, in other words don’t let the door hit you in the ass on your way out...see ya.

Eat it Vantel

I'm just saying JB won't bend the rules like that, Gillis wasn't afraid to tell Manny to sit out "for his own good"

I don't listen much so I can't really comment. All I know is that 650 has a rep for being homers and 1040 are the downers. I think I'd probably dislike both, but a Benning homer would probably annoy me the most

I don't listen to either TBH. I drive 10 minutes to go get my McD coffee twice a week and the radio is on 650 . That's it.

Like you said radio is dying.

I am in no way suggesting bringing Gillis back, BTW. Although his Pitts presentation was interesting, I'd definitely be interested in hearing what he thinks of the Canucks and how he'd go about changing the team

Well he did drive it into the ground so a second shot to finish it off totally is justifiable .

I am fine with a new guy but make sure it the right guy. Gillis could not draft to save his life . His trades were as bad or worse than Bennings and he had no consideration for the future.

Not exactly. He did take a lot of those guys, but on the other hand he did take Mitch Marner.

It basically comes down to this: he was in charge of the 2015-2017 drafts.

2015 - I don't give him any credit for selecting Mitch Marner. It as the 4th overall pick, and basically any of the top 10 picks would have been fine (except Strome, who was already taken).

After that, he cleverly traded down, so instead of Konecny, we got Dermott (currently trying to hang on to a roster spot) and Bracco (currently playing in Europe after having been put through waivers by Carolina, after we didn't bother to sign him). The rest of 2015 was a giant heap of garbage.

2016 they selected Matthews overall. So obviously he gets no credit for that. Our 2nd round pick was Egor Korskkov - an over-ager who would have still been around in the 3rd round. Joseph Woll (G) in the third round may still be a player, but after that it's nothing.

2017 they selected Liljegren 17th overall. His stock had fallen throughout the year - yes, he had mono. He's a defenceman, may still be a good pick. Maybe. After that, it's all garbage.

That's Hunter's record.

Thanks for the insight. Why was he not as successful with the TML as with the London Knights?

Haven't read the posts coming up to this but what the (frank) to the owners of the tsn 1040 radio broadcast. If you want to switch it over that's fine but could you have done it in a more bumhole manner just wow. Sorry for the swearing Hockey buzz but it doesn't get more bush league than what that media company did. Just sad. Good luck to every employee that worked there.

Drafting has been done for him the past 5 years all good. Gillis could just round out the group with more Hamhuis, Higgins, Malholtra, Lappy, Torres, Ehrhoff, Samuelsson, Ballard, Rome...etc etc type players lol

You don't believe in second chances??

Drafting has to be continuous .

Ballard bought out . Booth was a gong show. Roy did squat.

Vancouver fans forget how bad this guy was for this market. We are still dealing with his sh1t he left behind with the recapture.

He could come back and take the C from Bo and give it to Demko I guess but I like the less crazy type of GMs

Gimme Gillis and Gilman all day over 7 years of no plan plan JB. Yeah Gillis blew at drafting cause they were in go for it mode and that department needed more attention obviously. He built a winner that was dominant for 3 to 4 years. Benning has built an average team that is in cap hell and before the Gillis haters come on and say Benning had to clean Gillis mess up I agree but it's been 7 years and he made a bigger mess. I'll take 1the cup runs vs the lottery runs
