It does look like Laf has a bit of a power forward style in his game. So he is not a Connor McDavid or Nathan McKinnon style player. Which means he may need a season to mature his game. Takes time. I will reserve concern till mid next year. That's a full seasoning of his game. - NYRCeph
Whenever I start feeling down about Laf I watch his QMJHL and World Junior highlights. It’s not like he had one fluke great season, he’s been the consensus #1 for years. The skill is there, unfortunately the Rangers start to the season was probably the worst case scenario for him. He started in the top 6 next to slumping players. If those vets played at their usual PPG pace he has at least 5 points by now just by association. Not to mention the 4-5 times he’s been robbed already. Like others have said, it’s coming, no reason to panic. |

Ceph, I'm going to punch you in the nuts. Stop posting broken links or we send you to the Coyotes blog - mdw7413
Please no. There is no existence in the Coyote blog. Might as well as stare at dried paint, expecting it to dry more. |

This goes beyond last nights game. They just never seem to be in-sync in the offense zone. |

I am not as negative on last night's game.
Overall the hustle and work ethic is there. I am fine with rookie/young player mistakes as long as they work their butt off to correct them in the game and in practice. Sucks they lost, but I am not bitter about it because they didn't play lazy. They just made too far many mistakes with the puck that disrupted offensive flow out of the D-zone.
As for Zib. Again, he is playing better. Clearly getting scoring chances as compared to the start of the season where he looked like he was constantly on ludes. He is now in a rut/slump/dry spell. With the chances, I believe he will break out of it. HOWEVER, I do believe the regression is real. I think last season Zib will not be the norm.
All in all, the Rangers did look like a team yesterday compared to the start of the season. - NYRCeph
Forgot I wanted to respond to this.
I don't doubt that last season's Zib will not be the norm throughout his career. But, ONLY because his shooting percentage was double his norm. The skill and vision he displayed is not something that you just have for one season.
I feel he is still shaking off lingering Covid effects and will probably continue to do so for weeks to come. He already looks WAY better than he did 2 weeks ago. |

I agree. One big tell tale sign he is getting better for me is that he is back checking more and more effectively.
Though that hair has to get in his way or mess with his concentration. It's actually very noticeable when he's on the ice. |

I agree. These are like playoff games right now. Teams are tight checking. He’s getting playoff experience by default basically, which is important. It’ll come. Patience isn’t in the Ranger fans dictionary. New league, new teammates, no camp, not alot of practice time. He has factors out of his control that none of the past 1st overalls have had. He also doesn’t have the Detroit’s and Ottawa’s of the league to pad his stats. Next year i bet we see the offense explode |

I dont mind this news. If you look, the teams that have covid cancellations have all played good hockey once they restarted. Because they’re all getting practice time. Rangers NEED practice time |

If you have to play only teams from the metro, you're gonna have a bad time especially the youngest team in the NHL. I take back what I said about Mika getting scratched. It's frustrating but I/we do need to be more patient with this team. Its very possible they turn it around and go on a 5-7 game tare at any moment just like last year. Imagine we had a normal 82 game schedule? You have to think we would have at least 6 wins by now given all of the close 1 goal games we've had in the Metro this year. |
