It was a bad trade. But a mistake that Tampa made too.
Rangers fan are aware that Miller can play center effectively.
It surprises me that VC wants to trade him. - Greschnergy#4
I dont think its that they dont want him, I think its purely a financial move. They gotta resign Petterson and Hughes (maybe Demko) in the offseason. Then Horvat, Boeser and Virtanen the following year. |

Its an immediate upgrade over Strome... not that the bar is very high. |

I actually thought he looked really good last night and made some good plays. He burned Pelech pretty good in one sequence and almost finished in close Pulock blocked what looked like a goal. Kid has some wheels. - Cptmjl
I watched for him the whole game to see why the lack of production. Definitely does not have wheels at all. Seems to be a solid skater in terms of his technique but doesn’t do much throughout the course of the game that stands out. They said coming in he didn’t have good speed but he has high hockey IQ , and his shot and handle were great. It’s early but if I was a Ranger fan I’d be a little concerned |

I think his skating is better than expected tbh. Keeps up with the play. However for where he was selected I haven’t seen enough flashes of elite skill at all yet. Maybe that changes over the course of the year - nyrangers2
I would agree with that assessment. It’s so early but you look at the effect rookies like Stutzle are already having and it’s a little concerning |

What effect is he having? Being a defensive liability game in and game out (-11)? He had one good game...
2 of his 4 goals have been on the pp. If Laf got pp time, maybe he’d also be scoring.
For the millionth time mentioned on this blog, Laf has had plenty of chances and is playing great hockey. He very well could have put a couple in already but was robbed/stuffed/play was broken up.
This idea that Stutzle is having a superior start compared to Laf is an uneducated one. |

Not to mention he’s playing with the worst center in the NHL
I do think he’s skating isn’t nearly that of the elite guys. Ie-McDavid, McKinnon. But you can make up for it in different ways. His IQ and skill is where his eliteness will show
I think he’s going to be our Patrice Bergeron. Different position I know, but similar production and leader. Soild in both ends. If thats who Laf ends up being compared to (like), that’s a grand slam for me |

On the night the Rangers selected Laf, Bob McKenzie on the telecast said, “he’s more Mikko Ratanen than he is Connor McDavid. That meant he was a north/south winger who isn’t afraid of the dirty areas and has huge scoring touch around the net. Now, in all fairness to Laf and the comp to Ratanen, he doesn’t play with N. Mackinnon. Nuf said.
Here’s an idea that should rile some up. If the Pens are getting ready to blow it up, how about the Rangers explore the possibility of trading for Crosby? This with no consideration of cap issues and alike. but just some food for thought. His leadership and experience certainly couldn’t hurt, just ask all the wingers he made 30 goal scorers. |

Im not against a trade for Crosby as long as the return doesnt cripple our future.
Crosby is the guy that you will spend his entire career loathing because hes not on your team, but if he was, youd love him. |

I absolutely think exploring a deal for Crosby is smart. I don’t think we’d like the package we’d have to give up for him. Imagine all the prospects we include that would then play against us! Haha
Million $ question: Would you do Crosby for Mika and some picks? (Cap not considered, so might need to send some other players back to make it fit...maybe ADA)
Doubt they’d send him to us, but if we offered them the best deal, they might |

I got suckered into the idea. We need an effective center SOOOO bad
Edit: I think the Spittin' Chiclets guys also mentioned that the Pens should explore trading both Crosby and Malkin, so it's not that crazy of an idea. |

Depends on what the future is for Mika. If they plan to not resign him then so be it. However, a move for Crosby is the end of any deal we may offer for Eichel or Barkov. |

OMG....where did the idea of trading for Crosby come from. Let's not get desperate in blowing poop up guys.
I would feel like a dirty whore if they traded for Crosby.
As for tonight. Oh Boy. I am not hoping for a win. I am hoping to see competitive progress from the young guys. It's a good test on how to compete and battle with mental toughness with an upper level team that is playing really well. Any experience is good experience in this situation. |

This.
Plus, my usual when playing the Bruins...
hoping for a somewhat serious, yet not life threatening injury for Marchand. |

We got lucky that those turnovers we constantly make through the center of the ice didnt turn into odd man advantages the other way. If we keep making those boneheaded plays vs the Bruins expect them to run up the score on us. |

Agreed with you post about the turnovers...that is a major concern. Lets up they tighten that up. UGH. May be a rough night.
As for taking EVERYTHING back. No....I just wouldn't be able to. Personality flaws in being a snowflake on the ice for this many years, I just can't get over that. I will always applaud his skill. He's got that in spades. But for personality, no...it's clear his mother wiped his ass until he was 20 years old. |

I think Crosby trade proposals are reserved for like the 3rd week in August when there is literally nothing else to talk about
"hey I'm bored we should trade for Sidney Crosby"
Pittsburgh hired Brian Burke yesterday, the first thing he said was back in 2005 he missed out on Crosby by one spot in the draft and now he finally has him, and, also Brian Burke HATES the Rangers.
Hates them.
Notorius hatred. |

Oh yes. You and me both. There are few players I want to see run at on the ice. And he is prime target number 1. |
