I didn’t think Hajek was bad but obviously his big mistake cost us the game. He hasn’t done much to impress me though. If we lose one of Hajek/Howden/Gauthier in expansion I think we get away pretty unscathed again.

Hajek's mistake is the EPITOME of why it's a bad idea to have defensemen playing on their wrong side in their own zone

you couldn't fine a more perfect example of why its a bad idea

defensemen need to be able to use the boards to get the puck out of the zone

Playing with Howden doesn’t help Laf by any means. Once Chytil comes back I’d expect his offense to gain some steam, assuming they play together. In the meantime try him on pp1. They need a shot on the arm on that unit. Who comes off is a tough one, but I’d say Zib just because he’s struggling so bad

Sort of but it’s never a good idea for a d-man the throw the puck out where he did. The boards are a d-mans friend

Seriously? Do you want to win games? Howden plays on the top line? Are you out of your mind? The answer is not to bench him. You bench players when they are lazy, Zibs effort is there. He just isn’t scoring this year.

This why I can’t stand Ranger fans. They say and want to do some of the dumbest things ever

Hajek cost them this game. I jinxed it earlier

Thats for sure, it happens on this board all the time!!!

I think that is it though. He was on his off side. Kind of like muscle memory, if he is on his normal side thats off the boards. I wonder if he was trying to make a pass or it was just reflex?

I feel like it was simply an error. One that is being over-analyzed WAY too much.
The kid was under pressure, spun and fired a blind pass. A pass that is made 18 times a game to get out of our zone. The error was making it blindly. For crying out loud it went between 2 Rangers, missing either by about 4 feet.
The act of making that pass rather than firing it off the boards, where there were 4 players to get it passed, is not the end of the world.

We played GOOD hockey for about 56 minutes. Only took 1 penalty against a deep, experienced team and won 61% of the faceoffs. Yet, a kid with 35 career games making a turnover derails us from seeing anything good here??
If that's the case, this fanbase doesn't deserve any success.

this pairing definitely isnt a long term solution on the blueline, Hajek shouldn't be doing this regularly

he has enough trouble on his natural side

the main problem is Zibinajed, it's becoming inexplicable at this point, what in God's name is going on here

actually thought he was good last night

he's playing with a center who has AHL level offensive skills and not seeing PP1 time

that little toe pass thing he did was pretty cool

I feel like on every loss one or two mistakes have cost them pts. They’ve played very well for the most in 8-9 of the 11 games. By well I mean they deserve to have more pts then they do. But this is what a young team does, it’s growing pains

My only thing with elite guys like Laf is they should be able to play with anybody and improve the line. Hoping he gets there

I feel like playing against the Islanders when Varlamov is in net is like the whole games everybody is stuck in glue

Once everyone is healthy I don't see a way Howden stays in the lineup. He just doesn't bring anything other than PK ability

I said signing Panarin at this point in the rebuild was questionable and the amount of money was a lot. Of course Panarin crushed it last season and is continuing his production this season but the team still has a few holes and will not be contending for a Cup this year. We have to wait for our Defensive corps to develop and of course we still need a center. My worry is Mika. Has he lost his talent, he is just snake bit or the fact that does he have lingering covid issues. If Mika has a sub par season, it will mean another lottery chance because we dont have any center depth at all. Even if FC comes back, how long will it take him to round out into playing form in this shortened season?

This.
Anyone that has played any sport, especially hockey, knows that making plays in the moment is 100% different than watching it on TV. I will say, I have had many of moments playing hockey where I facepalmed it after a decision I made. Yes the mistake cost a goal. But he is not a 10 year vet who should know better. So he has a facepalm moment and hopefully improves with coaching and experience. That's the state of the Rangers right now. That's the rebuilding process. Tough sometimes though. I still get upset when they lose.

I agree on Mika, he is a huge issue right now. On the bright side though his price tag may come down a bit if this continues

I wouldn’t give up on Hajek so fast. I thought he had a rough 3rd period but otherwise has looked pretty good. Can’t blame him for a few bad plays when he hasn’t played a real game in what, a full year? I love his skating and quickness and think if you can find a solid right shot to pair him with they could play a steady solid game.

I'm biased but it was very odd Panarin picking the Rangers over the Islanders. Islanders seem closer to winning and have a center like Barzal. Rangers always have the edge with FA's. Sometimes that's good and bad.
