Hate is a strong word but if your one redeeming quality as a professional hockey player is dumping the puck you shouldn’t be in the line up. Both him and Komarov need to sit. Not really sure what Trotz’s problem is with bellows kid needs to play. - Cptmjl
I don't see the problem with MDC, I actually think he's played a bottom-six role pretty well. Once you get past the fact that we wasted a 5th overall pick on him, I think he's a very serviceable bottom-six winger. |

Believe it or not, there were a few scouts saying this. Some said he was the 'best stickhandler' in the draft. I believe Draisaitl, Nylander and Pastrnak all went after him in that draft - keaner17
I do not remember mention of the Isles making a reach with the MDC pick? Maybe it was mentioned and I do not remember? |

Not Draisatil, he was 3OA.
In no particular order, Nylander/Pastrnak/Ehlers/Larkin/Sanheim/Tuch/Fabri/Kapanen/Point (in the 3rd round lol) were all selected after Dal Colle |

I'm taking MDC over Leo that is for sure. You just need to give JGP another offensive winger if you have MDC on the line. |

I remember. But that write up made him seem like a can’t miss pick. One of Draisaitl, nylaner or Pasta would have been perfect. |

The MDC picks reminds me of many of the picks that did not work out that Bill made after the dynasty. Islanders really missed Jimmy D. |

Dal Colle busts his ass out there and I saw him break up more than 1 play in the defensive zone last night. I think most people's issue is that he was a terrible 1st round pick, which he was, but once you can look past that I'm more than happy to let him play in the bottom-six until someone takes his job. Everyone needs some of those low-cost, low-skill guys to fill out those roles. |

You're right, he went third.
Regardless, I think we can widely agree that he has never shown us a glimpse of this stickhandling phenomena that was propped up in the 2014 scouting circles |

I honestly don't have a problem with MDC right now. Maybe he'll put it all together still. We've got bigger problems than him at this stage. |

I agree. You just cannot put JGP with two Leo's or two MDC's. MDC being a high pick is the issue. It will be the same if Wahlstrom does not become a scoring wing. |

Exactly right! This team needs Bailey Nelson and Eberle to do their part. The top 6 get paid more because they are counted on more. You can role four lines but most of the offense will normally come from the top 6. |

He can still be a useful player. I don't expect him to ever live up to the hype of a 5OA pick...but he can play a role on this team for sure. Cheaply, too. |

I'm just glad to see Wahlstrom getting playing time. I'd love to see him get time with Lee and Barzy, or even Bailey and Pageau. The kid has a great quick release and shoot first mentality that might compliment Bailey or Barzy's pass first instinct |

I agree keaner. I'm all for not rushing kids but we need to see a little more trust with the young players once they are at the NHL. Nobody is saying they need to stay in the top 6 or even in the lineup no matter what. The Islanders need more shooters and it's been the case for years. That's why the PP has struggled for years and it's not the coaching. |

Yeah, he's done fine. He made a nice play to set up Eberle on his goal against Pittsburgh on the 6th that I thought epitomized the type of role he can play; A grinder who can chip the puck ahead with vision to see where the open spaces are. At this point option B on dal Colle is gone. What I mean by that is when a team picks a player that high, they have to properly evaluate his progression over time to determine if he'll realize the potential before other teams do.
I think it started to become apparent a couple of years ago that he wasn't a top five type talent. There needed to be a stage where the Isles could convince another team he was a first round talent prospect and deal him with someone else for something of better value. At this stage I think everyone realizes he's not that guy. So now we just have to resign ourselves to the fact that we spent that pick on a bottom six guy who can still be a piece of the team.

#Isles Transaction: Defenseman Robin Salo has agreed to terms on a two-year entry level contract. The Islanders have reassigned him to Orebro of the Swedish Hockey League.

Now there’s a loss of production. I don’t think Cpt will watch another Islanders game. |

The shootout sucks and so does OT. In what other sport do they change the whole dynamic and strategy of the game so someone can be the winner. Makes no sense and the loser point is just as stupid.
Play the game, 3 points to the winner, 0 points to the loser, and 1 point for each if the game results in a draw. - nyisles7

MDC is not the biggest issue and I think can work in a bottom 6 role just not top 6. Wahlstrom was drafted for a top 6 role and needs to be given a look with Barzal. Does need mean you keep Wahlstrom in the top 6 no matter what. - ses111
MDC is a fourth line player at best. He doesn’t belong on the third line let alone the second line. |
