Per Darren Haynes Twitter:
Even-strength goals against:
Quinn Hughes
- after 16 gm last year | 13
- after 16 gm this year | 26 (increase of 13)
Noah Hanifin
- after 12 games last year | 13
- after 12 games this year | 4 (decrease of 9)
It's oversimplifying it, but the Chris Tanev effect in a nutshell.
Ooff! - DEDDIE
Yeah but Tanev doesn't score goals!!

This is a big part of Horvat's growth, as a player and a captain. The Sedin's were the last great example. - Marwood
I'd throw Marky in there. I think his leadership within the group over the last couple of years is very underestimated by most. I also think he did a good job of it.

I still don't understand why Hughes and Schmidt aren't a pair. It should be:
Hughes - Schmidt
Edler - Myers
OJ - Benn - Retinalz
^ this
The only reason I could maybe think of, is that its spreading the talent a little thin in the bottom 4. Otherwise, this is something that should have been considered day 1, considering Schmidt was supposed to "replace" Tanev in a sense. |

Going from Tanev to benn will have that effect. If he went from Tanev to Schmidt it would be a different story IMO. But Baum truly sucks at coaching our defense and setting pairings. |

Hamonic was skating today he is near coming back but I am not sure that is an upgrade on Benn

Not at the moment. Maybe getting some practice reps with the D corps helps with that.

I’ve been coming here for over 15 years, 15 years of listening (reading) the exact same drivel that everyone here is spewing day in day out.
I thought there was a game tonight, I would have thought there would be conversations about the upcoming competition.
Don’t you guys ever get tired of the continued verbal diarrhea and repeating the same poop 1000 posts a day.
Benning is the GM until he isn’t, Green is the coach until he isn’t, Eriksson, Beagle, Sutter, Virtanen etc are players signed to the Canucks until they aren’t.
You guys all have some kind of repetitive compulsive behaviour disorder.
I’ll start it off, Calgary will come out strong to start the game, their forwards will press down Hughes side and try to overpower his lack of physicality. But I think Hughes is going to prepared and play a Norris style game.
If Holtby is in, Calgary will try shots high shoulder side because Holtby crouches low against the post and leaves an opening up top.
Could be wrong, but I think the Canucks play as a team and win decisively and could be the catalyst to much better play and a 750% run the rest of the way.
Pom Poms much, maybe but hopefully leads to better discussions. - Makita
Over in Todd C’a blog he talked about how both teams have a propensity to take penalties and as much as one quarter of the game will be played up (down) a man. Could be a special teams battle. I’ll take Canucks PP to break out against Markstrom and Holtby to hold the fort at 5 goals against. |

Schmidt is almost as much of an adventure as Hughes is. That sounds like a recipe for five guys caught up Ice and plenty of two on ohs |

You'd think with the defensive issues this team has experienced that all combinations would have been explored. But obviously the coaching staff know best. |

Win or lose tonight, I will still be cheering for the team.
Also, really hope Juolevi and Hoglander have another strong game. |

I’ve been out all day. Last I heard Demko was skating with the taxi squad, “indicating” he wouldn’t start. So I have no idea. But if it is 7emko in tonight I’ll have to update my prediction to 8-7 Canucks. |

That philosophy only applies to Schmidt, Hamonic hasn't had any practise time and has played 5 games, but, ya never mind. |

Solid post but it won't change our drivel. We're far too smooth brained for that.
4 to 3 for the Canucks
Hughes minus 3 with 4 points |

Just seen that. It's the Leafs with the cushy schedule. |
