I was born and raised in VAN, it was a great place to grow up. Expo 86 changed everything. I have no desire to even visit Vancouver anymore.

i'm the opposite. the more i travel, the more i realize that i just love living here. it's a small town but it has enough to keep you interested no matter what you want to do.

it might seem counter-intuitive but though it's getting "bigger," the city also feels smaller. what i mean is that neighbourhoods are being built up and i can get more stuff i want/need without even having to get into a car.

i've mostly ditched my car and spend a lot more time walking/running/uber/transit. that seems to have gotten rid of a lot of day-to-day stress. add the fact that i can get anywhere in the city within 15ish minutes and it's almost a perfect place.

As much as I sh*t on Alberta, I enjoy visiting Calgary, nice little city. Not fussy on Edmonton.

Today’s Edmonton weather forecast:

Extremely cold wind chill values between minus 40 and minus 45 are expected to return tonight.
Watch for cold related symptoms: shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.

Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frost bite and hypothermia.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to [email protected] or tweet reports using #ABStorm.

I think you will see better hockey from here on in. There may be more back steps but in general you will see their game clean itself up. Having the ability to practice will sure help.
- VANTEL

Somewhat agree but the last two games they've played well and just need to dig deep an find ways to win. Very disappointed in BO and his 'leadership' right now. Seems much more concerned with his home life probably I think he is having a kid and a dog and that's all good but holy sh!t man be a fu*cking captain lol

Not just that but also all the social stuff. In yaletown there was like five new social welfare developments going in. All needed but way too concentrated. Downtown is for the very rich or very poor.

Since I am not working now I avoid DT . I think I went once in one year now .

Vancouver sucks with all the construction now . Been like that for years.
- VANTEL

Born in Van would never move back. GF wants to move back to the Langley/Surrey area NoF'ing way. With the waterways and city planning having their heads firmly up their asses construction will never end there now. It will be an ongoing thing. I'm moving to the Okanagan where VHG and I will eventually be buddies lol

IMO, they need to implement playing some basic hockey, like crashing the net, throwing a body check, and quit throwing blind passes to the middle of ice.
- Reubenkincade

I did notice last night they did crash the net and screen the goalie. I fell out of my chair.

Good thing I had my clapper close by fire department took 30 minutes to come pick me up

I'm gonna go for a run in the polar vortex and just try to keep my focus on how sunny it is. I think it'll be OK once I get moving.

So — an early blog is ready for your perusal:

Lol, when I come back to Vancouver it feels so small to me. Small but also aggravating to get around.. but that's probably because I stay with the parents in North Van and I don't have a bike/car, and public transportation in the city sucks goat balls.

But, Vancouver is definitely a small, slow city, and I always chuckle when I read that people find it too big/crazy. (That's not a bad thing, by the by, just different perspectives!)

Edmonton has a nicer river valley than CGY but it's so dirty now wand the road maintenance in on par with Saskatchewan lol

Calgary is much cleaner with better road-ways now but still can b a sh!t hole in the right areas like any major city.

But Calgary doesn't have the boat like EDM does in West Ed mall so the edge goes to EDM lol

I have always had issues with Bo as the leader and every time I complain about him he has like five solid games and I calm down and then he goes into another 15 game funk.

If there are problems in the room as others have suggested, it would make it very difficult for any captain to deal with.
If it is a problem because of systems play and not players not buying in, that is a bigger issue and probably harder to address.

Good point for sure but eventually the true leaders rise and take over. Bo had shown those qualities last year but has fu*cking disappeared....weird

I'm ok with Bo at the captain but man he needs to be consistent. Not only with his game but his leadership qualities which seem to have both gone bye bye

haha yup. vancouver is barely a city (size wise) when comparing it to cities around the world.

every time i travel when i come back, i'm struck by how small vancouver is, how uncongested it is, how quiet it is and how clean it is.

it's a town more than a city.

as to living in north van, i couldn't do it. it's a beautiful place but getting to the city is disgusting. every time i'm there, i marvel as to how people could put up with the commute on a daily basis. if you don't need to go to the city, it's a bargain relatively speaking (real estate wise.)

Not a funny story, but I heard on the news a couple days ago a woman died of exposure up north (PG or something?). She was drinking at her neighbors, walked home on her own and never made it.

I remeber Burkie when asked when his job was on the line if he made moves to try to fix the situation, he said absolutely not.

I don't think the scouts were there last night because it was an open house to pluck players. I have a feeling one player may want out.

- VANTEL

Bennett has been public with his desire to get out. Might be too late as JV has been taking his value while SB has been increasing his but a trade of SB for JV would be good for both players.

i don't disagree.

but let's play this out: if/when jb gets fired, who takes over? are you firing weisbrod at the same time? if not, does he take over in the interim?

how quickly can they find a replacement?

in the interim, what role does the "acting" gm get? what decisions is he allowed to make? if none, does this mean that tdl comes and goes without moves?

i don't trust this ownership group to make a good decision quickly. if/when they do make quick decisions, it means that their mind was made up before the vacancy (green hiring) and that other perspectives aren't even considered. that's partially why we got where we are.

you and i have been in agreement that where we are now was not unexpected though the severity is. jb should have been replaced earlier but his mistakes were allowed to compound... and here we are.

- RealityChecker

I don't disagree, that's why we need to bring in a president of hockey operations to oversee any and all moves Benning wants to make. FA won't want to pay JB not to work for him, so you emasculate him and let him do what he's good at and have the president do the rest. Best case, JB MTAs and FA has money to spend on a new GM. Worse case JB stays but is just a figurehead who runs the draft and new president actually asters the ship.

Win win really.
