Before and afters are great. The US President ones are striking because of the stress of the job. Look for the Obama one, 8 years had its toll. And look what 4 years did to Trump.

Canucks have bought out one player Spooner in seven years. They have not used draft picks to move contracts like the Leafs. This year Tor will have 10 mil to sign 10 players, Habs will have 14.7 to sign 8 players and Canucks have 26 mil to sign 11 players. - VANTEL
And what?
I guarantee you both the Leafs and Habs will be compliant on day 1. |

Exactly so why you complaining about the cap . Leave it to the people who actually know how to deal with it.

Depends what you call fair. I imagine Markstrom got offered 5mx2, Tanev 4mx2 and they went with Schmidt at 6m and JV at 2.5m instead.
Are you suggesting that there isn't any cap issue? That 15.5m in replacement level players like sven, LE, Beagle and Roussel isn't an issue and didn't first them the opportunity to sign better players?
JB is on record as saying that he ran out of time to move money out to sign players. - Pres.cup
From what I heard Marky was offered 4X5.5 and Tanev 4X4 which were very fair contracts. JB is on record saying he ran out time to sign Toffoli...had nothing to do with Marky Tanev Leivo or Stecher from what I could tell. Most teams need to move money around and have bad contracts is what it is. |

So, is Hughes a one hit wonder, just like our boy DeAngelo? - Cupcakes
Ya...most dmen that are top 5 in league scoring are busts champ. We'll take DeAngelo for JV straight up. |

Benning also said right after the playoffs he thought Toffoli would score more in the playoffs. Probably not the smartest thing to say about a player that you are going to play 9 times in a year but also not something you say about a player you are anxious to sign.

He is top 5 in D scoring but if he keeps playing as bad as he is in his own end I would not be generous when contract time comes around.

True and realistically we were winning without him in the lineup so why the big push for a huge contract? Since acquired Toffoli played 17 games for us with 7 in the PO's. 17. I was ok keeping him at value but not another 4 year contract. |

Why would any player sign a team friendly, lower than market value contract after seeing the management group throw money around like Evander Kane at a strip joint? Myers, Beagle, Roussel, Ferland, Sutter etc.

You say that but I am not the one lurking all day waiting to jump in and gang up . Or I never run and cry looking for back up because I need an audience.
If anyone is living rent free I would say I don't give a flying fuk what you do but you for years have been talking about me and how much I annoy you .
You are nothing but a coward

one COULD use the argument, that maybe he was waiting to see if he could use a buyout on sutter, free up some money, then sign him, but regardless, there were no talks till after the bubble playoffs (confirmed by all parties).
I am happy Stecher/Marky/Tanev walked.
In my opinion, I would have loved to see them buyout Sutter, let Virtanen go, Signed Toffoli, and sign Leivo.

He was asked a few weeks before the season started if he would buy out Sutter he said we need him incase of injuries .
I get that it is painful to watch but this was not the year to make moves .Toffoli does have 9 goals but only two against a team not named Canucks who played brutal. Next year he will probably end up with 17 goals and the year after 15 .

With Tanev I could have cared less I've wanted him and Edler gone for awhile now. But with Markstrom the Organization took a major risk with him after his career was a complete bust coming out of FLA. invested 5years in him and Ian Clarke took his game to another level...but I guess saving your career isn't worth 500K to Marky...he can rot in CGY for 6 years lol. Says a lot about his character. |

We never won anything in the past with Markstrom or Tanev. I don't think signing a 30 year old goalie that has issues with his groin and throwing away Demko was the answer.

Your narrative is so wrong. It’s not $500k, it’s $13million. They didn’t “save his career” any more than they saved Myers or Sutter’s career. They gave him an opportunity and he rewarded their patience. So once again, I ask, why would any player leave money on the table when the organization seems able to throw it around to guys who had done nothing to warrant it? Why would the team MVP take less than the guy sitting in the press box?
