I use the avatar approach to skip over peoples posts. Then they change their Avi and I accidentally waste my time. - manvanfan

I don't know who else would be dumb enough to come work for FA either. - manvanfan
There is not much out there. I look at Holland a well respected GM hired by the Oil because of outrage by Chiarelli . They are having a decent year but very little thanks to Holland.
Same goaltending. Same core. He did bring in Turris whose numbers are terrible and he brought in Barrie who Benning has wanted , and Barrie is having a decent year.
Holland is riding the coattails of the previous guy.
I am ok with changing Benning but make it an upgrade.

Gillis is a joke of a GM and Luong is a bigger joke.
Roberto remember when you couldn't get out of Vancouver fast enough? Thanks for the recapture penalty . - VANTEL
From the chatter I read and the slideshow pitch, it seemed like Gillis is aiming at more the President role than the GM role.
I'm not saying he'd be better suited for that, but he does have some interesting ideas that I'd definitely listen to. Definitely an outside-the-box thinker. |

If there is one thing I've learned over the years is that if the outspoken "loud" fans are wanting it, it's the wrong thing to do. - manvanfan
That's what happened to Gillis. One would think something needs to give if this continues right? I would also think FA has made calls as well.

Holland brought in a better coach. Other than the progression of youth on the team, he has down pretty much nothing else to move them forward. |

Don't want any part of him. That is just my opinion. That 9 million recapture fine from the NHL are because of him , the NHL , and Luongo. No thanks.

I have to say if one of those two come in. I'll be pissed off. Gillis has proven that he is just terrible at running a hockey club. People think Benning is bad for creating the future. Gillis took a future and crumbled it in 6 seasons. He took a Stanley cup contender and turning it into last team in the league in 6 seasons.
If people think that Gillis took this team to the SCF. So what, he lost. Then couldn't get them back there. - manvanfan
Gillis back is not the answer. Then it becomes a boys club like EDM with Lowe and such and Gillis will just bring back people who have failed him in the past. No. We are trying to change the country club mentality not continue it lol |

Not saying MG, but I like the idea of both President of Hockey Op's and GM.

Gillis ran the team into the ground, it was kind of obvious that he would be fired, the team was going nowhere. There was nothing for prospects, nothing in the AHL and a team with a bunch of ageing vets. |

Tippett had that club well in a PO spot before the Plandemic came into effect last season. Barrie has looked good and Turris OK. Yamamoto has looked good too. They should finish right behind the Leafs 2nd place in this division as predicted...They are improving a bit more than just youth. |

He should not have brought in a Kraft Dinner coach then.
