I don't think I buy that as much, unfortunately for the Canucks fortunes.
By the time the other teams hit their "hard" stretches, they'll have played and practiced and be in mid-season form. There won't be the same drop off the Canucks seemingly had at the start of the year – they'll know their systems and be used to each other by then. Sure, they might be a bit more tired, but compared to the start of the season when guys are still gearing up, it won't be as substantial. - NewYorkNuck
There is very little downside to this season.
They either get their crap together and show they are a top team or they get a high draft pick. I think they will figure it out and start moving up now that they are over the craziness.

It’s too early to say anything for sure about Gardiner and Skjei, but early returns on Gardiner don’t look good and Skjei’s track record is abysmal.
If Jim Benning made these moves, the analytics community would crush him. You can’t ignore these cause CAR is “the analytics team”

Those are the only two outcomes? Playoffs or a high draft selection. What about the possibility they are a middle of the road team, don’t make the playoffs and get a middle of the road draft pick?
Not that this is in some way a bad outcome, but it’s just as likely. |

Canucks prospects having a weekend.
Vitkor Persson assist on overtime goal today.
Jackson Kunz had a 2 goal game last night.
Aidan McDonough 6 points in his two games this weekend.
Linus Karlsson has 2 points through 2 periods
Podz with a 3 point game this morning.
Jacob Truscott is rarely in on the scoring but a plus 10 in 17 games this season
and I won't go into how bad the Finnish D have been. |

Why does a bad move by some other team try to make Jim Benning look better? This is just a terrible take - “at least he’s not Don Waddell”... |

Corsi overrates the poop out of Gardiner but if you dig deeper his teams give up a lot of shots in the slot/net area so I’m surprised Carolina was cool with that, I guess they thought their system could change him.
Skjei has been always hated on by analytics, he always rates out as a mediocre dman. I think Carolina thought he was being given too much responsibility in NY and would improve with less pressure in Carolina. Still a weird move by a “analytical team”...reminds me of when the Coyotes would make a weird signing or trade that people would point to and say “lol analytics” but then people who look at analytics would be like “that’s a dumb move by Chayka”.
These teams must obviously have their own analytics or they give their pro scouts a voice as well. My guess is a combo of both |

Trying to predict how a player will play with another club in another system is like shooting fish in a barrel.

Maybe he meant cruel and inhumane. Or maybe he's a bad shot? Maybe it's a really big barrel and really small fish...

Juolevi appears to have an excellent wrist shot from the point. Couple times last night really hard shots got through. Need to exploit that. |

Seven wins , seven losses. I seen on Twitter Calgary fans are getting restless with Mr Lube Jr .
Maybe we should have warned you before signing all your new aquisitions to get use to being in your end a lot

In a weird way, I see shade's of Mark Stone in his game. He's big, protects the puck well, high hockey IQ. Needs to work on becoming a stronger skater though but seems to be in the right place at the right time a lot to cover for his lack of superior skating. |

I mentioned that on here last night that he has some zip to it. Get's it through a lot, not always on target. I wouldn't mind if at times, they got him out at the end of the PP's instead of Schmidt. |
