What were you hoping to achieve for the Leafs...maybe an upgrade behind Freddie and more grit for the playoffs (WN —> JTM), with the others largely being cap adjustments...?
After JTM, WN & TD, you have:
Woll (rookie G, unproven), Engvall (I don’t know him), Kerfoot (small forward, don’t see a fit for the Canucks...see Sven Baertschi), Dermott (24, left D, 12 min a game...maybe OK?)
For
Virtanen (hot & cold, size & speed, probably needs a change of scenery), Pearson (solid top 6, responsible), Juolevi (rookie D, slow start to his career, may never justify top ten pick, but has looked solid)
I don’t see it being a fit for the Canucks, but am curious in how you saw it.

I didn't like the Kerfoot part . He is locked and smallish as you suggested. Canucks have about 3 mil to get a third line center this year . I am keeping an eye on Lowry . He is a big boy and puts up good numbers.
The rest of his deal is shuffling deck chairs but giving them more room in Cap space.
I would hang onto OJ for sure.

If he's creating problems in the room, you need to part ways fast. The good thing is he has no control where he gets traded to. - VanHockeyGuy
He might enjoy Columbus. I hear the coach is a very effective motivator. |

Geez. Going from the guy who solved all the problems for the Canucks last season to the guy who’s creating all the problems this season.
Fascinating. |

For a guy who’s wife and children are based in Tampa Florida, due to COVID-19, it must be a trying year for him. Not making excuses for him, or maybe I am, at any rate, it’s not easy being away for months on end. Apparently they just built a big new home in Tampa, he needs to play to pay the bills but he’s probably not happy about it. |

he could be an emotional guy. when he's riding positive emotions and things are going well, it's contagious like last year.
when things are going badly, like missing your family, perhaps he doesn't hide it very well either. that attitude can be infectious as well.
...or the most likely explanation that there's a bunch of little issues going on with the team that have snowballed into the crap of a season. water finds it's own mark and this core will find the cohesion they're lacking... but i still look forward to a benning free 2021-2022 season. |

Basically this
Leafs get tougher and solidify goaltending position while saving a few bucks. Freddie is UFA and likely not affordable for us.
Canucks can keep their love for 🇸🇪 with a
Engvall Pettersen Nylander line
Miller is apparently a problem currently according to your thread and the recent spat with Holtby, but would look fantastic beside Matthews and Marner
Kerfoot is a BC boy who is an upgrade from Sutter at 3C and saves a bit
Dermott and Juolevi are similar, fresh start for both, and both still improving
Pearson is UFA and not likely to resign there
Virtanen has no value right now
Woll becomes #3 behing Holtby and DiPietro
Looks like it has created quite a stir in the leafs blog

Your second line scoring has dried up so I don't think Canucks would help you with that. Definitely not giving up their future goalie and a Dman that is improving every game.
I also don't think they would want Kerfoot as a3C |

But that’s what we do here. Make up stories about people with absolutely zero basis in fact and then debate what to do about “the problem” |

Pearson Tavares Hyman would be a decent 2nd line
Tavares has turned Josh Bailey into an all star 😳
It’s funny, the Leafs fans think Demko sucks 😔 |

I am sure it is a trying year for all of us not just a multi-millionaire hockey player.

i think you guys are giving this way more thought than it deserves.
if all those pieces are available to trade, the canucks can get better returns making several trades rather than in one deal.
a multi-player deal hardly gives the same return as a couple/few smaller ones unless the goal is to get 1 "top" player in the deal (which isn't the case here.) |

No one feels bad for someone making 5 million dollars a year but there are human sides to things whether we admit it or not. Regarding his play.
It’s been a fcuked up year!! |

I don’t feel sorry for him, I’m just saying there are probable reasons (outside of hockey) why he’s struggling a bit this year. |

Pearson should be traded off for a draft pick. Probably even Jake . Miller should be a one on one move if they are serious about moving him? I don't know that they are.
