their shot selection is abhorrent. but at the same time, absolutely no one is ever in a good, open shooting position. they never force the defence out of their positions and so there's never an opportunity for a cross ice pass. it's just perimeter passing until someone closes their eyes and says (frank) it and blasts it into a defenceman's chest.

Toffoli is good at finding the open space in the defensive box. Perry and Anderson need to the same. It's good to be in the goalie's face but once in a while you have to give a pass option otherwise it's just a 4 on 4 with a partial view

Having a legit threat in that slot or half circle could/should open up passing lanes. There's nobody on tge powerplay currently that a defending team needs to overcommit to other than maybe Weber
