They can put him on LTIR. With his number of known concussions and recovery times on them, I wouldn't want to be the Doc that clears him.

I really don't want to see him play anymore as much as I am a fan of his. I really don't think LTIR would too difficult to get an okay from the league either.

I'm with you in hoping that I never see Shaw suit up for another NHL game. Unfortunately, I think he's the type of player that will push the issue until he passes all the tests. If that happens, I hope upper management steps in and tells the coaching staff to make him a healthy scratch until his contract is up. It would be tough to be cap compliant with his contract not on LTIR, but I would love to see he team put his health before anything else.

Well, sure, it is easy if he's not cleared to play. Not so easy if he doesn't qualify for LTIR. Especially hard if he's cleared AND wants to play.

There's a pretty strong (allegedly) concussion protocol in place that the union and owners agreed to. It is supposed to be informed of all the latest medical science on head trauma. If that protocol says it is safe for him to play, how do you stop him?

To repeat, I hope he doesn't play. But he has the right to do so if he's eligible.

Regarding the expansion draft. You protect Hagel and expose de Haan. Easy decision for me.

7 forwards

3 D
1 goalie is the way they will go is my guess

- Elbows15

Agreed, they will protect Hagel for sure because of what he brings every night and because the kid will resign at a very reasonable number. And they won't want to keep DeHaan, Zadorov and Keith at their salaries and ages. And Keith isn't going anywhere.

Oh now its trust the science.

I know all that but I still wouldn't want to be the Doc who clears him. Of course he is going to want to play. He doesn't even sniff the NHL if he isn't wired that way.

I assume you mean Murphy and him I would protect mainly because he is RH.

Keith has a NMC so he has to be protected.

He has his off nights and some of it is making plays these kids aren't ready for just yet. LBH, Keith was spoiled by playing with Seabs and Hammer all those years. But he is still playing at a high level. If it his Norris year levels? Nope but he still impacts a game.

Have you noticed Mitchell starting to do one of the things Keith was the best in the league at doing during the Cup years and stepping up to cut off the neutral zone?

Keith and Oduya used to shut down rushes at the red line. They would stop an attack just cold.

Really? I'll not bite on the political bait.

So, is this concussion for Shaw different from the last one? Or the one before that? Many here assumed he'd never play again after the last one. Yet a doctor said he was healed and could play. Maybe this time will be different.

political bait? it was a joke. So whateves

Concussion have a cumulative effect. And each are different. It took him over a year to recover from his last one.

Still wouldn't want to be the Doc that clears him.

Is that guy UnnamedSource(pretty sure that was his name) still running that other site where everyone used to go so they could avoid Eli and JJ?

Whatever happened to that whole anti-HB movement? Everyone slowly crawled back when they realized Eli and JJ were gone?

Just curious...

We finally get a guy like Zad assuming they resign him I see them protecting Zad before Hagel.

I tried watching the Colorado/Vegas game, but those helmets on the knights made me want to puke.

its still there and active. never was anti-HB as much as anti being banned for bullpoop.

Some have come back and some haven't. Once Barney and RedAss left it was less contentious here.

That's what i figured. And yeah you're right, it wasn't so much HB in general as it was those overly anal mods treating us like we're in elementary school.

What's the site called again? I might wanna stop by just to see whats up.

New blog! A preview to the Blackhawks vs Red Wings matchup that will hopefully have more fundamentally sound play toward another series sweep.

Plus, a look at "being strong on the puck" and a recap of the IceHogs vs Wolves battle.

Who the hell would protect DeHaan over Hagel?
