Jersey hasn’t played a game since January yet they beat NYR tonight. There’s hope for the Flyers.

Tying ethnicity to the virus has uniquely harmful and historical implications. Please get your stuff together guys.

''G'' hasn't been to China recently or isn't of Asian descent is he?

Official names:

Disease
(COVID-19) coronavirus disease

Virus
(SARS-CoV-2) severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2

More harmful than what the virus has done. You need to get your stuff together. It is the Wuhan flu or the China Flu. China is responsible.

LOL

Is pretty clear to everyone on here you like to debate on almost every topic on a daily basis and that's fine. You have the right to your opinion as does everyone and you seem like an intelligent person who often becomes argumentative.

What is your goal by mentioning the devastating impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on everyone (although you do not know or use the proper name) in relation to the initial goal of informing people they misuse the proper scientific term of the virus / disease and it has consequences ?

When an Asian American teen in L.A not even of Chinese descent is assaulted or when a young Asian woman in her 20's living in NYC is beaten and sent to the emergency, comments like the ones you made are problematic and inappropriate. It's how it causes people to think and act based on what is being perpetuated by individuals.

I'm Canadian and I have a 7 year old son (also a Flyers fan). My girlfriend's is Asian-Canadian, her parents immigrated to Canada from Laos. As a dad, I would not tolerate in any shape or form if ever my son was ever subject to racial slurs or bullying based on racism, xenophobia that's been aimed at the Asian community during the COVID-19 crisis.

Does Login or yourself know the ''Spanish flu'' the worst and deadliest pandemic in history that killed 50 million people did NOT originate from Spain? Many people today are still unaware it's actually the 1918 influenza pandemic and since Spain was neutral during World War I, the Spanish press free of news censorship unlike other countries were able to report on it. Hence the name.... This lead to create the spread of the deadliest pandemic exacerbated by a combination of censorship, denial and debate over countries about where it originated. By the way do you know where the first cases ever were reported/documented ???
In the U.S!
I should clarify that there is no scientific consensus regarding where the virus originated.

Swine Flu as it was initially called, now renamed H1N1 had a devastating impact on the economy for farmers. No link between pigs and H1N1. Similarities between a virus common in pigs and H1N1 was the reason for the initial name.

Since it's Black History Month lets use this as an example: Do you describe Black people as African American, use simply Black or do you still use the term ''Negro''?

Viruses aren't named after places anymore. That is a fact. Guidelines are in place since 2015. I'm all for science and tracing the origin of serious global issues in the goal to solve them and insure everyone's safety.

Just because certain terms have been used in the past doesn't make it appropriate now. We all know or should know that language evolves.

You are misinformed and this isn't even for debate. You are clearly wrong and don't know the facts. The information is available. Looks to me like cognitive dissonance.

Please do your research MJL. Even intelligent people as yourself can make asinine statements.

This Flu originated in Wuhan, China, so it's natural that people call it that. There are LOTS of diseases that are called by the name of the area where they originated, such as the German Measles, Coxsackie Disease, Spanish Flu, etc. It amazing that people get butt hurt over this. SMDH....

Just stop. Its from China, end of story. We will call it what we wish, not because you project your own racism on to others motives, but because that is what it is. Im so tired of people like you trying to rewrite history because it hurts your feelings. Get over it. Giving it a different name doesn't change anything other than to make you look silly and trying to hide truth. I would rather you just go back to the kids table a STFU while the adults discuss it.

It's unfortunate your cherry picking attacks on people to make a point. Covid 19 will always be the wuhan flu. Personally I think the Chinese government is evil. It never occurred to me to assault a Asian person because of this.
The problem in today's climate is the cultural acceptance to censor ruin and destroy individuals and groups who don't subscribe to the accepted narrative.
If you don't like Covid being referred to as the wuhan flu China virus then don't.
I can call it these things without being bigoted or racist.
When you can control history you can control the present. When you control the present you can control the past.
China has blamed the US military for the China virus. If you don't think media and government officials will try and use propaganda to confuse the origin of this virus then your being naive.

In our group one of the guys that I thought put the most emphasis on the mask and washing his hands and doing all the right things, social distancing, we have no idea how he got covid but he still got covid.

Is it possible that such “precautions” make no difference?

True. When surrounded by negativity, hate and fear and uncertainty of the truth, my MO is to come out swinging and often not landing a single punch. Over time, I learned that it isn’t so big of a deal not landing anything, it is the fact that I left the corner that is important.

folks, this is a hockey blog, we are all supposedly adults, lets keep the political and social comments off the site and keep it to hockey related issues, there are plenty of online sites to express all your feelings one way or the other. time to move on, it should only be about hockey here, thank you, rant ended
