they're "replaceable" in the sense that every bottom six player is replaceable. it doesn't mean they aren't quality players, and it doesn't mean there will be players as good to replace them with.
- sensarmy_11

Of course not. Not in this organization.

i just can't understand people who complain all the time instead of enjoying the positives...................like leaf fans who implode after every loss and want to burn down their city.

you criticize areas of strength (young players), and defend areas of weakness (old useless vets)

- sensarmy_11

You can be quite negative as well. I wouldn't mouth off pretending you are captain positive.

everyone can be negative, but at least when i'm negative it makes sense

i'm negative about dorion as a GM and his idiotic signings/trades for useless vets

i'm negative about some of D.J.'s mindblowing roster choices early in the season

i'm negative about how awful most of the useless vets brought in have been

i'm negative about the completely idiotic and predictable PP system this team rolls out

i'm NOT negative about the 21 year old leading rookie scorer in the league

Fellow posters: let's all use this as a rubric for what we can and cannot be negative about. It's finally clear.

Seriously, I got so caught up in this silly squabble (both of us) that I forgot about the stupid 14 drop passes in the neutral zone PP strategy. Let's hope they fix that soon.

be negative all you want, but if you're negative about stupid poop (like you were earlier) you should deservedly be called out on it.

if i said something as stupid as "norris hasn't been good", i would fully expect to be blasted by everyone on this site.

Everything is great! Jim Norris and Dave Batherton are amazing!

You guys just wait....in two years...watch out!!

Classic Sens fan response. Coming off yet another loss in an historically bad season (even for OTT standards), devoid of high-end talent, completely inept ownership / leadership, but how dare you react with negativity??

leaf fans, after their supposed "contender" team has been outplayed by the "historically bad" senators in 3 out of 4 games this season, should probably not be gloating anywhere.

in a normal season, your team is at best a wild card team and easy 1st rd exit in the Atlantic division...........

you guys bottomed out, went through a full rebuild, brought in an 11mil UFA, and you have literally nothing to show for it.

If you want to keep going....

It's more about wanting more. I see elements of his game that are good. I am not sure there is top 6 centre in there yet. Is there potential? Sure. I want to see him trust his instincts more and not panic when he is pressured.

In my opinion, he played better with Batherson and Tkachuk then he has away from them. I think that speaks to wingers making him better instead of vice versa, which is fine for him at this point in his career.

I don't take too much stock in point total at this juncture of the season. Still early.

I don't think he would make a majority of other NHL teams right now and definitely would not be getting the same amount of ice time purely based on depth of most teams in the league. It's my opinion that this isn't that outlandish of a take. He's a young player. It's happened before.

My original view was that overall was that this team doesn't have quality centres for any of our wingers to have their game elevated. That is what good centres do. Can the current collection of centres be serviceable on the Sens 3rd and 4th line. Sure, I guess. But why is that impressive on a last place team? What's the value there long term?

What stemmed this was the point that Stepan was dragging down Stuzle and Batherson. Fair and I look forward to the day Stepan is stapled to the press box or traded contrary to what you beleive. However, right now, you can't convince me guys like Stuzle, Batherson, Dadanov, etc are million times better off with the existing centre options. There will still be tough times.

I'll leave it at that for now. I know you'll respond to this post, but I will not engage.

I will be enjoying the game tonight despite what you might think. I hope you enjoy it too sir.

you clearly know about hockey, i just wish you would make posts that weren't critical all the time.

it's the same reason i stopped following shackles on twitter..........guy knows his hockey, but literally 95% of his tweets are just (frank)ing whining and complaining. for someone who covers the sens and claims that they're his favorite team, he sure does hate them.

I didn’t find Gudbransson as bad as Michael claims. He had a couple of nice hits and long ass shifts. He is never going to be the prettiest player out there, but I felt he has done alright the last couple of games.

This team has zero quality centres. Not sure why people are surprised with some line combos. Calling up Logan Brown may make an impact on the comment boards, but until he gets going in the AHL, I’m not super interested. That said, I’d be interested if the leash is getting shorter is Norris. He doesn’t seem to be taking a huge step to be a top 6 player, especially since being removed from the Batherson and Tkachuk line. He is just kind of out there. He hasn’t really contributed much from the eye test. Maybe there is a Brown/Norris swap at some point? Do they try Stuzle at centre?

I am liking Murray’s game. If he can continue this play for a coupe of years, a playoff birth may be in store.

- Gord_Wilson_2.0

Norris played his best skating game I found- moved really well through the centre of the ice. Had some good offensive zone time. Decent defensively. Put up points. He just needs reps. Brown I think is a worse skater and defensively awful- I don't know how he fits in the lineup. I think Brown is going to be traded, and we will probably go with Stutzle, Norris and Pinto as the future centre players.

One thing that has to change is putting Norris with terrible linemates and get Stepan the hell outta dodge

Powerplay is painful to watch how much time gets wasted constantly passing backward and how slow it gets from doing that.

Yep good loss.... will be the last season i say that.

Our lack of a true N°1C is obvious and so far, makes a big difference for possesioning % in OZNE & DZONE...I believe that Stützle has all the tools to become progressively this N°1 center...This will help to speed up our rebuild for the future!...Go Timmy!

i would love to see if sens could put a package together to get Zegras out of Anaheim (doubt it). 2021 1st, L. Brown, another player/prospect......prob still doesn't get it done

i think rolling with:

zegras
norris
white
tierney

would be pretty good (although i expect we'll lose Tierney to Seattle)

Thank goodness. And I, for one, welcome our new insect overlords.

Of course, there's only so much sunshine you can blow up people's backsides about what remains the worst team in the entire NHL. It's good to see the team starting to play better hockey, and see some of the younger players stepping up - but their best combination of forwards right now still only amount to 'maybe' a decent #2 NHL line, and it's not abundantly clear how much of a #1 NHL line they legitimately have in the development system. Some might fill that void with inflated expectations for unproven prospects, but at the end of the day it's still no more than a half-full glass, at best.

Great game.

Is Ottawa closing the gap with the Leafs? Or, are teams learning how to play better against a one line teams.

Stutzle is just going keep getting better and better.

Sure makes a difference when Chabot does not log in for every second shift.

Liked Batherson last night and Dadenov appears to give a strong effort every shift.

Tierney, Nick Paul, Dadanov, Zaitsev or even Austin Watson are all good pick-ups for an expansion team. I don't think it will cause a lot of pain in terms of the overall development of the Sens roster.

You know that would actually be a really tough proposition to have to work through. Everything that we have seen of Stutzle smells like superstar.

Last night he scored a goal and the commentator merely said wow!

But, Lafrenier is a huge draw in a market that is 40% francophone. I would say no to such a deal...but, I am sure, there are some marketing folks that would want to take a second look....but, it would never happen.

When you say "He is just kind of out there" you're absolutely right about Norris. Great evaluation. It was the same thing in the AHL last year. You had to check the game sheet to see if he played.

In other news, it is interesting to see a few projections of a Chabot / Makar second pairing for Team Canada. I am not opposed to that and it would be entertaining.
