I get the arguments against changing the coach and putting the blame on the players that are debated daily on FB via Sabres Mafia. That being said, the problem is BOTH! When Wayne Simmonds leaves and scores 5 goals and Conor Sheary scores 4, while Eichel has 2 and Hall has 1 (0 since scoring the team's first goal of the season)... there is a HUGE problem on both sides. The players should be pros and they should take it upon themselves to play with more pride, grit and determination. The coaching staff is the laughing stock of the league. Teams in nearly every sport reflect the personality of their coaches. I am not a Steelers fan, but that team always reflects Tomlin's energy and persona! This team does the same, every action is so "matter of fact" and without any sense of urgency. Exactly like Krueger is in his interviews. Krueger would be better in a front office or administration role. He is intelligent and has vision.
Sports are a testosterone driven battle of will & emotion, hence the significance of momentum. There is no emotion, no will to battle, no pride, no refusal to quit, and clearly zero leadership within the organization (let alone on the ice). They need a coach who has been through the ups and downs of a season with success and some authority to his voice, commanding respect. Great coaches get more out of less, while lousy ones get less out of those with more talent. Which is Krueger?
