I was being a bit of a drama Queen, there’s no getting out from Schmidt / Myers without it costing you something. I mean, you could probably trade either and get something back, but I think you would lose more than you gained.

Edler has been Edler. If he was back a year at a time, $4m next year, maybe $2 the following year? I’m all for having guys like Benn, Hamonic etc on low $, low risk deals. This team needs 8-10 legit guys per year.

The big problem is trying to find cap room for that.
You have to assume that Demko, Hughes and Pouty will all get some type of raise, then the Canucks need another 6 players signed to fill out the 23 man roster.
There will have to be some significant cap dumps, trades or the oft-used MTA in order to make it happen.
The team has some good players to build around, but will struggle to find ways to compliment those players.
