I 100% think they should get a look at those two. I wonder if they won't just wait until later in the season to do it.
If we get toward the deadline and look like a lock for the playoffs I think Granlund and Virtanen could be some useful pickups. - MacPatty
I would love to see that but do you HCMS with his job on the line has the balls to play either of them?
When your look at the ice time of 4th line players HCMS has no confidence in the players, its a revolving door. No identity. I’m convinced if they make a trade it’s going to be a big one.

Well right now I’m pretty sure they are skating on an outdoor rink by themselves in Quebec so I def wouldn’t play them right away. But hopefully they start playing somewhere. They should be in the ahl till the minors start up or at least on the taxi squad because that bypasses the whole nhl/chl agreement. |

The whole thing is a mess....if they came here they would have to quarantine. Time that is done and get in shape the season is 1/2 over. |

Oh I thought someone said they were playing together and looked good playing together on the same line. I'm confused now. |

I think if this team plays more games like they did last night that Hex and Burke will want to make that move. Obviously we need to find a team looking for LD and either make a hockey trade or add a little more with the LD for a better player. |

Horny with 2 more goals. That's 8 goals and 7 assists in 14 games.
I'm happy to see Matheson playing better, but he would have to turn into a 1LD for it not to be a stupid trade. |

I said this before the entire NHL knows we are in win now mode and a trade for the players we need will cost us assets we might not have or specific players other teams see valve in. Dumo,MaCann,Petts,Zucker.Marino....those guys will bring us what we might need. While i think Marino is good #73 will be better. I would trade him. |

He doesn't have to be a 1D but if we get more games like we have from him the past couple we'll be in good shape. The trade was dumb because we needed the forward position more. But it is what it is and we all know Ruth's crazy plan was to probably trade a LD to get a forward because he loves making trades. So hopefully Hex finishes that off. |

Neither Marino or POJ are going anywhere. That's probably a future pair being a lefty and righty. It'll be Pettersson or Dumo. |

Looks like the Q teams are playing actually. So good, at least they are getting some action. I know the WHL isn’t starting for a couple more weeks, so I was under the impression the chl was all on the same page. |

Well I might be the only one, but I don't think Sullys ass is on the line at all. Burke and Hexy don't seem to have a ton of respect for how the roster is built. Sullivan doesn't get nearly enough credit for the way he has been able to take cast offs and get the best out of them.
Especially on D... petterson, Marino, Schultz and now Ceci and Matheson... all were going nowhere and have played their best hockey under him.
Sully is a great coach and I'm happy the Pens still have him.

Just wait 'til the playoffs come around (if Sully makes it that long) and prepare to have your bubble burst (again). |

Haha, I think you might be on to something, especially considering that Jank doesn't play long pants hockey despite being 6'4". |

Have to think that if Matheson puts some more games together like that, Pettersson's days will be numbered. Need some help at forward depth. Could be a good candidate for a 1 for 1 hockey trade, the Jim Rutherford Special. |

My guess is that Dumo is the odd man out, and rightfully so, IMO. Petts is only 24 with 4 more years left at a decent rate. He seems to be focusing on the physical aspect of defense which is a good sign. Even though Dumo is injured now and has been a fair amount lately, he might fetch more in a trade based on his reputation and accomplishments. |

I am the only one on this board that ever liked ZAR. Even I soured on him last season but clearly his shoulder was limiting him big time. - YouMeAndDupuis9
Hahaha. Most of you guys love players when they are good and hate them when they are bad. poop everyone would have shot MM a week ago, now that he’s getting some actual games in for the first time in a year he’s starting to show his abilities, imagine that. |

If they get into the playoffs I think that will be a victory in itself. Mark my words, Sully will get a shot to coach next season after Hexy puts his touch on the team.
The part that confuses me is that everyone here gives Trotz praise but bash Sullivan. How many years in a row did Trotz completely blow it with the super talented roster? Remember how he would just whine like a little schoolgirl after every game the Pens beat them on their cup runs? Washington didn't even offer him a contract extension until after they won the cup.
JR has done Sully no favors over the past few years personnel wise. Let's see what he can do with 4 lines of nhl caliber players. |
