And Strome does not fit into Calgary’s system. - LAHawk
You might be right? I just don´t know where he fits.. Maybe Buffalo or Minnesota?

Did we loan Strome out to the Panthers? I imagine it's got to be his fault they lost to the pitiful Red Wings yesterday. - BetweenTheDots
No, he was loaned to the Red Wings, and is the reason they won. |

Bennett has more speed, more grit and is more responsible defensively, Strome will put up more points. Strome’s game has the potential to be a top two center if he can get stronger, Bennett is more of a third line center and will probably have a lower cap hit going forward due to less offensive production. If Toews comes back 100% healthy, then Bennett is the better option for the Hawks when you take into consideration all the points above. JMHO - Angotti
Meh. Hawks already have a Bennett type in Ryan Carpenter who is older, much cheaper and doesn't have the pedigree of being taken 4th O/A.
If I was the Hawks looking to move Strome I'd be asking for a pick or picks.

Picks are fine but most of them won´t bring you anything but..well former picks. If it´s first round sure, second round maybe.. Bennett is still proven player and is relatively young. Carpenter might be gone after next year or even quicker.

Might get Schmaltz for Strome, Yotes save $2.5m immediately and much more long term. |

Proven what? That he can get benched for the entire 3rd period against the Oilers? |

361 NHL games and 131 points. Lot of players get benched. That doesn't mean they are not proven. Patrik Laine was benched. You say he isn't proven? |

Blackhawks forward prospect Cam Morrison had surgery last week to reconstruct his right knee MCL and is expected to recover in 5-6 months, the IceHogs announce. |

Actually 381 games for a blistering .343 PPG pace. He ain't no Laine who is his own special, streaky, kinda crazy.
Seriously, do you really think a Sam Bennett is what this team needs right now? Another underachieving, high 1st round draft pick who is getting paid $2.5 million.
Enough with the reclamation projects that rarely work out in the long run.
Just about all of us on this board never expected the team to be as competitive as they have this season. Let them play it out and continue learning. There really is no point in making a trade just to make a trade. |

No I don´t think Bennett is what Hawks need. But I would not mind if that trade happens.
Strome had a golden opportunity to prove that he can be a top center in this league when Dach and Toews went down. So far he has proved that he doesn´t belong in this team long term. As a center he should be carrying his line. Now he is usually the weakest link there. Pretty useless in 5vs5 - 6 of his 8 points have come in pp.
I know Bennett isn´t doing that great either but even if he is not scoring he can be useful player. And he has been really good in playoffs so far. What I mean is that Bennett could be better fit in third line etc. than Strome is. When Dach and/or Toews are back I cannot see role for Strome anymore.

As fans we sure WISH that Dach and Toews come back at the same/close to the level they were playing at.
Will Dach be able to take face-offs with his wrist? How will it effect his stick handling/shot.
Will they find the therapy that will allow Toews to regain/retain his strength/stamina.
Stan knows more than anyone else. If the answer is he doesn’t even know, you need a Strome more than a Sam Bennett.

Of course he does. But we all can see that Strome is struggling. Rookie Suter is doing better than him and Kurashev too. I sure hope Strome can find his game but at the moment he is probably worst forward out there and even without Dach and Toews Hawks don´t need that kind of player if he keeps playing like that. Because he is not helping his team to win in anyway. |

Great memory!
The announcers didn't know. Kaner did, and I quickly joined his side of the argument!! - 35Tony0
It seems that all of the players on the ice knew - those around the net - they all kind of stopped skating, Sharp and Ladd look like they’re starting to celebrate....
Great comment by Kane (according to Doc): “It was my job to sell it”. |

Need a Strome that shows up every night. He is far too invisible on many nights |

Whom goes and whom stays at trade deadline......because isn't Bennet cap hit higher than Strome? We have a plethora of current or in the pipeline bottom line L3, L4 players. But receiving a middle round draft choice is nothing much (probably). You get enough draft choices and you get a home run or a descent player. So maybe someone takes Strome's job, no big deal just to get rid of his salary. I'd accept a draft choice. I like Bennet but not if he cost more than Strome. And lik I said, we do not need Bennett. |

Bennett's is less by 450K. Bennett wants top 6 minutes. That is one of the conflicts in Calgary. I don't know if he is good enough for those minutes. He is getting 14~ minutes a night and nothing suggests his production is Top 6 levels. |

Hawks just need to stay the course. If the market bears and they can move some players, looking at de Haan, to clear some cap space for next season, then launch them.

KKKK broke his collarbone last night, de Haan might like Edmonton.
Injuries around the league are going to have a bearing on trade activity, there are a lot of games to be squeezed in for the remainder of the season. The Habs are playing every 2nd night for the remainder of the regular season. |

I would try putting Strome back between Kane and the Cat. There is a familiarity there. Put Kureshev(?) between Suter and Kubulik. Put the best remaining center between Janmark and Hagel and take what's left and make a fourth line. Should Toews come back make him the third line center. just my opinion but I am tired of the seven defensemen experiment. |
