I also think Nylander will be moved at some point, but doubt very much that it will be for a "bunch of cheaper useful players" That is not what is needed. To win a trade I would think you need to receive the best player in the trade. Leafs have boatloads of bottom six types, none needed. A quality RHD ok, a top six LW that hits ok, a handful of giraffes - no thanks waste of time. As far as tougher players go I agree they break down sooner, Wendel was in that group. They can be game changers but it also depends on how the games are called and enforced at the time. If a peckerhead like Tkachuk cross-checks Matthews 20 times and gets away with it, then it is considered responsible tough hockey. If he is called for a penalty and the Leafs score a PP goal then he is a talentless idiot that can only hope to even the lack of talent by thuggery. - winsix
I have to be honest - I don't think they're going to win the deal when (if) Nylander gets traded. Some might argue that there's an addition by subtraction - but that thinking is largely limited in the overall scope of having game breaking ability spread over more than 1 line.
I think when (if) he's dealt, we're either seeking cap freedom, so we add prospects / picks, which likely won't have the same impact as a player of Nylander's calibre, or a top-4 D, who might be a piece we need, but won't be as useful as Nylander in terms of observed value.
When I say cheaper useful players, I'm referring to a couple of guys who can slot in the top-9F and top-4D currently and contribute, but who would still ultimately be a part of a losing trade.

well done!
I'm watching the Habs - Sens game. I love - and I mean love watching Julien when he doesn't get a call... he still hasn't shook that whole Bruins entitlement thing - makes for great entertainment

It's the best state of affairs for the Leafs by far since 1967, and some fans are seemingly unable to feel any exuberance or enjoyment in it and continue on with hand-wringing without missing a beat. It's understandable. The PTSD has frozen all joy and hope inside of them. - Zezel

Julien is quite comical by times. The facial expressions of disgust are a thing of beauty.
Last half dozen games are starting to expose the areas of weakness in the Habs. Once teams get a few looks in rapid succession especially. Very weak down the center to start with. Going to be hard to greatly improve that before the deadline. Most likely off season.

It's a pick your poison trade. - Monkeypunk
When Montreal was in first place their management were geniuses. The leafs are first overall and we hear that we have to trade Willy right now. We don’t have to trade anyone. If there’s a move to be made at the deadline to help win the cup then go for it. If not we should stand pat.

I love me some classic soul - been building a great Spotify soul playlist and I played Cooke's 'Nothing Can Change This Love' for my kids the other day. They were genuinely impressed when they heard how great a singer this guy with no auto tune or fancy studio tricks. They were like, yeah, that guy is really good. ✅ - fifty__missions
So good ...
I would not know what to look for. What songs do you have so far?
Leafs have played the Habs 4 times this year. Have you watched at all? Who has been more dominant in everyone of those games, Nylander or Anderson? Dude it’s not really up for debate. Anderson on the Leafs is way more valuable than Willy. But you have a right to your opinion(even if it is ridiculous). - rSole
It's only a few games, I base my opinion on a body of work, not recency bias. Nylander is supremely skilled compared to Andersen. I like Andersen, but basing It on only this year is ridiculous

Some of those don't seem like "Soul", although I am fairly ignorant sometimes about the dividing line between genres.

Lot of good stuff in that list! - Aetherial
Agreed, but I've picked songs done by the marginal artists in their most 'soul' phase/style.
A song like CCR's 'Long As I Can See The Light' is a pure Stax/Volt style song, for instance.

I'm in no rush to trade Nylander - and I think it would unwise before the expansion draft because it could leave us with further exposure (i.e, let's say we traded for a top-4 D guy with term - we'd then have to protect 4D, which would mean we could only protect 8 skaters instead of 7F and 3D). I do think he's the obvious casualty of our cap crunch. I thought we'd figure it out with cap increases of 3-4% each year, but the pandemic pretty much killed that extra $6-$8m, which means that money will likely need to be found somewhere if we want to keep Hyman and Rielly (or a replacement 1D).

Some great names on your list - for me if you are talking about Soul/Rythm and Blues you have to include some of the great vocal groups of the forties and fifties. Some obvious ones I would add:
The Righteous Brothers, Big Joe Turner, The Platters, The Drifters (especially with Clyde McPhatter but also Ben E King) , The Mills Brothers, Phil Philips and of Course Jackie Wilson (Michael Jackson developed most of his dance moves from Jackie) - it can be argued that 30's dixieland jazz artists such as Fats Waller had a major influence on Soul/Rythm and Blues
It's only a few games, I base my opinion on a body of work, not recency bias. Nylander is supremely skilled compared to Andersen. I like Andersen, but basing It on only this year is ridiculous - Archaic
Josh Anderson had one goal last year. O-N-E. His contract has David Clarkson written all over it.
Some people would think trading Matthews was a brilliant idea if he slumped for 20 games and the other guy was playing well. 🤦🏻♂️
My wife just committed to a Vegas weekend - Leafs game plus Raiders game.
FFS, get the vaccines rolling. - Atomic Wedgie
Prices are nuts for VGK games, can get a glass seat in Phoenix for literally 10 times cheaper and the cards play across the parking lot. Scottsdale is a mini Vegas without all the weird poop anyways. 🤷🏻♂️
