After Matthews, Willy was the Leafs' best player most nights last season. On pace for 35+, maybe 40 goals. Keefe has worked with him going back to the Marlies. In my view, writing him off now would be precipitate, and is an emotion-based fan bias reaction.

It is a bit of a stretch to refer to Nylander as benched. He missed a shift or two and the shills at Sportsnet reported it as a benching. Nylander played exactly 19 fewer seconds than one of the top line players. Hardly a benching. I suggest referencing stats before quoting many of the maroons that provide color for Sportsnet's HNIC telecasts.

Tavares is fighting the puck right now. Happens. He is too good for this to last too much longer. He is skating well. I think his decline is a bit overstated.

Nylander should be benched at the end of tight game. He is not strong defensively. His offensive game is suffering a bit because of Tavares right now. Maybe they just do not mesh.

JT is not 100% right now. Taken a few vicious head shots this year. He will return to form. Nylander is a dynamic offensive player, I have no problem with limiting his icetime. No one should mistake the Leafs for being the type of team that the 1994-95 NJ Devils were. Leafs off to their best start since the 40's - not much to female dog about.

Calm down. Of course there are flaws in his game even at his best. That’s why he sat some shifts. Keefe was pissed with his poor defensive play. I don’t think the guy was denying that.

And there are extremists who paint him as the laziest player which is just as ridiculous. Nylander is a gifted offensive player who makes an important contribution to the team when he’s playing well. He’s not playing well now.
