I'm not a Nylander apologist but I'm also not a Nylander hater.

I've been saying for literally months that he's the odd man out and needs to be traded. This season, unfortunately, he hasn't been playing up to the pace he was last year but, even if he did, I would be still calling him for to be traded because:

- Rielly will need to be re-upped in a year
- Hyman needs to be re-signed
- Ander5en (or his replacement) needs to be signed (5M(ish))

I don't see how Willie stays with the club beyond this season.

We'd notice an improvement.

Anyone who brings energy and a new look to that 2nd line would be a huge help for the team.

Willy can gain the blueline as easy as almost anyone though. That’s not easy in this league. It’s too early in the season to give up on him IMO.

Don’t forget AA was advocating trading Matthews for Brady Tkachuk 2 years ago so.....

Yeah, he has value, and he is a nice-to-have for sure. In fact, I want them to hold on to him for a while. If he can come back to form, it would only help if they feel they need to get the salary back. I don't like the idea that he should sit. That violates the principle of the pump and dump.

They definitely don't have to make a choice that is a nice bonus of the way the team is playing so far this year.

Yeah when you are rolling in first place and can probably make the playoffs by playing . 500 the rest of the way, you are the big stack and can be patient with moves. It's a novel position for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
