And they need to do that to get their goals. They don't have the superstars upfront to do otherwise.

No ones goes into traffic except for Anderson, Toffoli and Gallagher, they need more than that.
- BashCH

Guys like Tatar and Danault have been good in the past. No reason for them not to be anymore. Maybe they think too much about their contracts.

Drouin has skills, but will not do the dirty work himself. Armia is there to do that part. Maybe Perry as well, but age is catching up.

If KK heats up, things will get better.

I still think this team give too much goals lately and it's a problem. Price has to be better of course, but the team in front as well.

they gave up 8 goals in 2 games.

Meanwhile, they did score 5 in those 2 same games.

anyway, other than Allen I guess, they need to be better overall.

How many penalties did they take again last night?

- deadpoulet

they scored 2 breakaway goals in 25 seconds against Toronto and barely got a sniff the rest of the night. They scored twice last night against a team that gives up 4+ on average. come on. im not excusing the D. im more saying that they're spending way more time defending now than they were earlier in the year.

Not trolling at all here, but here is how I see it.
Goaltending overall: above average to excellent when Price is hot
Defense: Above average
Wingers: Overall depth makes it above average-lacking star power other than Anderson
Centre: The only team weaker is Ottawa.

Montreal scares me in a playoff series because of the ability to shut teams down and roll four lines with no drop-off and of course the Price factor.
But all in allI see the Habs as just OK

Suzuki and KK are pretty greens. Hard to really judge them. And Danault seems to be thinking about his contract way too much (same with Tatar). Maybe there's something else, I don't know.

They don't have the star power up front like Toronto or Edmonton but I think they are deeper and less of a one trick poney.

Maybe you need a mix of both like Tampa to win it all, cause that formula has not work so far in Toronto or Edmonton.

Yeah, I think in time both KK and Suzuki will be above average centres.
As for the Leafs right now we are essentially a one line team. When Matthews/Marner cool off we will drop back to the pack a bit unless Tavares/Nylander heat up.

Matthews looks pretty much unstoppable these days.

Scariest player in the NHL.

And not just because of the mustache.

I think Toronto should win the division. Maybe Edmonton or Winnipeg could catch up. Still a lot of hockey to be played.

At some point, Leafs fans will expect some success in the playoffs. Boston won't be in their way before a while this year.

I would not mind to see mtl vs Toronto in the first round or maybe later on (second round). I'm not saying mtl would win, I would just like to see it as a fan.

But mtl has to make the playoffs first. A team like Calgary could catch up.

They are. But there's a lot of hockey to be played, still. They could get up, stay in their spot or down.

They will have to be better than this to make sure they get in. And to play more than 4 games once they are there.

It's still far anyway.

I watched Mete last night. Don't need analytics to tell me the kid can't defend
- Takemedrunkimhome

bud, you have zero facts or stats to base your argument on. Mete is above average and so much better analytically than 50% of the D on the team....your opinion is just that...opinion...baseless....both his O zone (especially) and D zone stats suggest he is better than average...what he is is small and can get pushed around...but he is more effective than Chariot or Kulak and Edmonson...and that's why he isn't being traded.
