Panarin is taking a leave of absence from NYR in aftermath of political hit piece against him from Russia alleging that he beat up an 18-year-old girl in Russia in 2011

I have a feeling age will be an excuse for KK until he's 30. Then it will be because he played with Armia all those years.

His first two seasons, given every prime opportunities possible (on a very bad team I agree), he's produced 44-45 points.

Could he do 55-60 in a good year? Yes. Does he bring something interesting in his game with his physical play, yes. Is he a good player? Definetely.

All I'm saying is that in due time, considering how both players have improved, I really think Kotkaniemi will be the best player between the two.

His ceiling certainly is higher.

just before they drafted KK, they used Drouin as their first line centre. They really did. And they traded Sergachev to do that.

That's why they drafted KK instead of a winger.

it's (frank)ed up but I don't get why he needs to take a break from playing though... kinda makes him look more guilty than anything, no?

He's 20 years old. That's really young to play in this league.

Also, he plays for a coach who has no interest in player development. He was one of the best players vs. Toronto Saturday night, and he was creating things offensively yesterday. The coach rewards him with cutting his icetime. I don't get it.

political hit piece? And this comes up 10 years later? Not saying this is not true, but I would want to see the details first.

Bang on.

He's being given very little opportunity to actually succeed/gain confidence.

Watch the highlight of Ottawa's 1st goal. Please explain to me with your "stats" how Mete wasn't completely responsible for that goal. Stats are great but if they don't match the eye test they're not giving an accurate depiction of the true story. It's why we watch the games and they play them rather than just doing a simulation based on paper teams. Mete can't defend at an NHL level
