Personal opinion is I don't give 2 (frank)s about anyone's political views. My philosophy is shut up and play, sing, act.. whatever. I don't ask my plumber for his political views so I certainly don't want to hear about an athletes or celebrities. Thing is they have every right to do it, which is great. Now if their employer wants to do something about it, thats an entirely separate issue. I'm actually surprised more teams don't put something in a contract for social media, but the teams are so tied into social media themselves......... I wouldnt be surprised if teams encourage it for their players. Kind of a double edged sword - mdw7413
I agree, but unlike the USA, many countries don't have "real" elections every 4 years, if at all. Putin is pretty much a dictator, so I can't compare what Panarin is saying to the stuff American athletes say about our politics.
Social media Is a huge cancer but when big name celebs use It then It starts to grow legs and more Idiots follow It. Hope Panarin learns from this and I hope his family members In Europe are safe. Putin Is a murderer and a dictator hope Ovechkin figures that out soon as well.

Again, Panarin is speaking about things that we, as Americans, have no clue. He is the only Russian athlete that I know of that has spoken out against Putin. Unlike his American counter parts, he actually has something to fear from speaking his mind against the leader of his country. Even Ovi kisses Putin's ass. Took a lot of balls to say what Panarin said, but probably a bit short sighted, since his family is now put in danger.
