Hey, we haven't had one post about Fire Quinn and we've moved on from the stupid idea of giving our team away for Eichel, so... mission accomplished!!

The difference is the cancel culture in Mother Russia might choose to kill you and your family....then again, the Clintons might be guilty of that as well |

Wow. Well IF true - as a Rangers fan, Panarin can just as well not come back. And good riddance.
Buuut - if there was ever a grain of salt to be taken with any news story, this is the one. The source is Andrew Nazarov, who, yes, is a something of a raving lunatic. If the guy slapped his hand on a block of ice and called it cold, I would probably second-guess him. And trusting Russian media (especially a tabloid) is a VERY hard thing to do in this day and age.
Hopefully, any potential/would-be victim in this entire ordeal stays as safe as possible. |

Great, makes Panarin signing even better. LOL
But seriously, I very highly doubt this is true, if there was some sort of truth this would have come out years ago, not now. I dont know why he would take a leave of absence though unless it has something to do with his family. |

See, I don't get this rationale. I get that you said IF true. But, even if the root of the story is true, why is it good riddance without any idea what the situation was? From many, many reports Panarin is a fantastic individual. He displays a real grounded and respectful disposition from everything the public sees. He was raised by his grandparents and continues to provide for them...
Maybe (if it's true) this woman was assaulting HIM and he had enough, lost his cool and hit her once, and that is what got reported. I've seen that happen before.
The point is we know nothing and should not make condemnations either way. |

Considering that criticism of the Russian gov't can get you stabbed with a Polonium tipped umbrella among other things... this is one case where its really hard for me to accept an abuse accusation at face value. Yes, violence against women absolutely exists and should not be condoned, ignored, and/or swept under the rug. The timing on this one, however, is interesting (to say the least). As are the sources cited. |

I feel like you have to try pretty hard to not understand what he was saying. If it is true, that Panarin assaulted an 18 year old woman, he should be punished accordingly. The operative word here is "if", which implies finding out "what the situation was" in your words. No one is advocating making a decision without first doing the due diligence. For now, we know almost nothing, like you said. Your speculation as to what his character is, right or wrong, is irrelevant by your own logic.
That being said, i agree the circumstances surrounding these allegations are highly suspect given the source |

Next step, Some 30 year old former cheerleader will come forward with a story “we were at a party, and Artemi was drinking straight Stoli. We were kissing a little, and next thing he’s trying to take my clothes off. I tried to stop him, and he got very angry and started punching me. I broke free and ran out of the room”. “I stayed quiet for 10 years because I was too embarrassed to say anything.”
Sound familiar? |

"Larry Brooks is reporting that Artemi Panarin is faking a leave of absence in the wake of a “report” that he beat up an 18-year old in a bar in Russia."
-Jan Levine
So is he actually taking a leave of absence or just faking it?
Holy WTF kind of crazy story is this??? - Queenie_5_hole

His character is completely relevant.
You have to remember though, that he would have been a 19 year old boy at the time. It's not like he was said to have curb-stomped a pre-schooler. He was probably about 155lbs and may very well not have had much of a physical advantage over a girl his age.
All I'm saying is we should refrain from spitting vitriol like this news would make him Hannibal Lecter.
I am not someone that would hit a woman. But, I'll tell you that if one was hitting me for what I thought was no good reason, I would stop her from hitting me more.
Edit: whatever. I'm really not trying to continue a debate about what is sure to be a fraudulent story. IT just bothers me when people prepare a rope and gallows for someone based on a principle that might be absolutely unfounded. |

You guys are hilarious. Have you seen Panarin out of uniform? He may be a great play maker, but he couldn’t hurt a fly with a punch. I can only imagine what he looked like 10 years ago. |

Who is spitting vitriol? All he said was if it turns out that it's true that is bad and should be punished. Finding a way to justify or excuse him beating up a woman is not making the point i think you think you are making.
Again, we know nothing more than what has been told to us. Which is he has taken a leave of absence after these accusations came to light and he denies it. The source is questionable at best and the timing is suspect as it comes a month after he spoke out against a vindictive, fascist government who is known to retaliate against dissidents. The facts and circumstances are laid out, now the pieces will fall where they may. I am in the camp of this is probably a political hit job, but am open to the idea that i may be wrong and am eagerly awaiting any further clarity there may be |

Floyd Mayweather weighs 150lbs soaking wet and could destroy all of us at once. Panarin is not Floyd Mayweather, but as a professional athlete, is and was likely much stronger than an 18 year old girl. So if the question is COULD he do it? Yes, obviously yes he could have done it. Whether it is true is the only real question. You're arguing against no one on that point because no one is claiming they think he did it. I think the general consensus around here and probably all over is that this seems like a hit job against a dissident, but time will (hopefully) tell
I'll add that assuming this isnt true it is very troubling for Panarin and his family |
