Part of being a professional athlete is to not be a distraction to your team and teammates. I don't recall the Rangers ever having to issue a press release like this due to any other players support of a political candidate. Whether this comes out to be 100% fabricated (most likely) or not if he had just stayed off social media like other players have been asked to, none of this happens. - newenglandpuck
Personal opinion is I don't give 2 (frank)s about anyone's political views. My philosophy is shut up and play, sing, act.. whatever. I don't ask my plumber for his political views so I certainly don't want to hear about an athletes or celebrities. Thing is they have every right to do it, which is great. Now if their employer wants to do something about it, thats an entirely separate issue. I'm actually surprised more teams don't put something in a contract for social media, but the teams are so tied into social media themselves......... I wouldnt be surprised if teams encourage it for their players. Kind of a double edged sword

Everyone has the right to their political opinion but from actors and athletes many times they have the same exact opinions and it comes off like they are in a big cult.
It's not Actor A believes in this and Actor B that and Actor C something else. It's Actor A B C all believe the same thing. Hope this makes sense?
Hard to argue against Panarin's views with Putin though.

I don't know the guy too well as a Devils fan but I have a hard time believing it's true. It's all too convenient that this article comes out from some Russian "newspaper" after Panarin voices his support for Alexei Navalny who was almost poisoned and now put in a work camp for "probation violations". This has Putin written all over it.
