He does some good stuff out there but holy (frank) it’s gotta be frustrating seeing him parade to the box every game. Doesn’t get the Chara pass for being huge I guess.

I still see a soft team, physically and mentally. And not fast enough either.

Stuck in no man’s land, no identity. Oilers are trash too outside of McDrai. Only team in this division that seemingly has it together is the Leafs but no one trusts their goalies and they have a history of being fragile in the playoffs.

Better to just enjoy the pond hockey this season without expectations because clearly this team isn’t going anywhere.

every team in the north division is in for rude awakening in the playoffs and is going to get curbed stomped in round 1.

The Pens never compete for cup let alone win any without Crosby and Malkin. Besides, McDavid and Draisaitl are worth more than our top 3 players........easily.

Not arguing any of that, my point was that their depth sucks, it’s not comparable to those Pens teams that won the cup. Nurse is playing awesome hockey though, but they miss Klefbom, don’t have a legit starting goalie and need more secondary scoring.

Oil have gotten quietly better outside MCD and Drai. Barrie and Nurse are emerging there. Larsson is back. Russell looks solid. RNH looks great as does Yamamoto & Kahun. There are still gaps like most clubs but looking like a unit out there with a great forecheck. Take away any teams top 2 guys an you have issues lol

The fact is that they ARE part of the Oilers.

It’s not the Oilers AND Connor/Leon.

One is indisputably the Best Player on the Planet. The other lead the NHL in points LY.

They are paid commensurately.

Consequently, their GM is forced to supplement the Team with lessor, more economical talent options. Yes, the drop off in talent may be amplified but that is the result of the Salary Cap and not the Team itself.

Nurse is better than any Dman we have when you include a complete game. At this point it's not even close. I saw him play in SSM against Mcdavid. Easily the two best players on the ice as teenagers. McCann was pretty good too.

Their depth does suck, I agree. However, TO's and ours isn't great either. Aside from Matthews though there's really no doubt about who the top 2 players are.

Imagine, some of the more vocal "armchair GM's" were adamant that Laine would be a better player.
