Myers & Chariot also go over 20 minutes a night.
My point stands though as I think he's far tougher than any Dman we have....as do you.
If anyone wants to make an argument that Hughes is better that's fine, he's far more dynamic. At his best he certainly can dominate a game more. However, Nurse is capable impacting a game in many different ways. - golfingsince
You won't ever catch me claiming Hughes is better. I think he is the worst defender in the league and that includes whenever Flyers play Pouliot. |

He'd be an amazing rover if they still had six skaters.
He really does need a very good defender paired with him to bring out his best. His partner takes the puck away and QH transitions it up the ice. Great pairing. |

Maybe he's talking Myers? He only had the one but he actually does lead the league in PIM's - golfingsince
He has gone off on these little tangents before talking about someone different than what the player that is being talked about is.
Usually it is later in the evening like this, might be some reason behind that.
I believe he was talking about Myers, but Myers wasn't out of position, he baubled the puck again causing him to have to interfere with the forward.
I know Hughes was right there to take the puck, so did Hughes communicate that he was right there and had him covered, or did nothing get said.
There are so many of these types of plays that are going on every game, I question whether these guys actually talk to each other on the ice, or if they just wait until they get to the bench and look at the tablet.
Just way too many of these little things going on out there. |

He is a winger, IMO. He isn't smart enough to understand defense. You can hear it whenever he gets interviewed.
Also, whenever he skates it up the ice he has usually missed a wide open pass to Miller who is breaking up the ice., or he has been skating it into trouble.
Pretty sure that is why Miller had that little episode on the ice today and I don't blame him for getting frustrated, but I also don't condone that either.
That is squarely on terrible coaching, for not dealing with this on-going issue. |

Interesting,
I'm not sure i'd take it that far but i'd say he's a #2. He can skate like the wind and paired with a true #1 they should be able to control the game for nearly 30 minutes a night. |

I just added more to my comment. It is something I have been keying in on, trying to figure out why Miller was getting so pissed off. |

I've noticed Petey also skates the puck into trouble then will pass it off to a defender with pressure on him. It's troubling.
Anyways, I wanted Dobson on draft night and clearly he has a ways to go offensively but he looks to be a really good 2 way Dman.
My buddy is an Islanders fan and he thought I was crazy when I was pissed after the draft but he sees it now. He's a huge hockey fan and actually has Hughes in his keeper league and Boeser among others.
The funny thing is Dobson is from across the bridge and played most of his junior career a few hours up the highway and regularly played here in town. |

Ya, I have noticed that about Pouty as well, but don't want to piss off the masses too much, they already think I am an idiot because I have problems with a player who is a cute skater.
The other thing Hughes does is looks only for Pouty, unless he is in trouble, then tries to pass to Miller who is usually checked or has had to stop, so is standing still.
Dobson would have been nice to have. |

Myers is a stiff, another great FA signing.
Inevitably someone walks the plank soon.
TG, JB. both or a player combo plus 2nd RD Draft pick, for Sam Bennett and Chris Tanev ? Pick your poison. |

Exactly. He needs a stud #1. Comes back to dynamics on D pairings. Other option is a rugged & good defensive minute muncher who skates well to compliment him. We presently have neither. Maybe Woo can develop into his partner but that’s asking for a lot. Myers is best as a 4 D. Hoping Rathbone or OJ can become a #3. |

You can’t read, all I said is that the team isn’t deep enough. If you want be a (frank) tard homer and pretend it’s not true then go ahead - Nucker101
You’ve fallen prey to one of the classic blunders, slightly worse than “never get involved in a land war in Asia” - “Never get involved in a battle of wits with an Oilers fan when sanity is on the line” ah hahahahahaha arggggggggg |

So, in the intermission Sat said (for the second time I can remember) that it was “Demko time”. No back to backs, younger, more up side, playing better etc etc. the first time he said it was just before the Mon/Tor series.
Now, Demko does have more “up side” and he is younger, and probably playing better than Holtby, but do you think he is going to get a run of games? Personally, I think Holtby goes next game. |
