Who are the big forward prospects for you guys? I see that Veleno and Rasmussen are both 21. Are they getting a shot any time soon? - Rinosaur
Veleno is playing in Sweden and should compete for a spot next year. Rasmussen got a few games this year and is probably the future 3C.
After that we got the Swedish mafia 2.0: Raymond, Berggren, Niederbach, and Soderblom.
Then there’s some lower ceiling guys like: Grewe, Mastrosimone, Kivenmaki, and Hanas. |

Really dude is one of the unluckiest players ever lol. A career PDO of 98. - Feds91Stammer
Even if his PDO was solid, $9M is way too much for him. |

Oh that’s for sure. They gave him that money like he was a regular 40 goal scorer. |

I get that smaller market teams sometimes need to overpay to get good talent so they can attract more good talent, but this was next level. |

Eventually some GMs are gonna start making the moves that look bad short term and stop giving out horrible long term deals right? |

How cheesed is Hall going to be if they trade Eichel away? Isn't that the big reason he went there? To play with Eichel? |

Thanks for that. I remember they were this great surprise team a few weeks in and boy did that go south quickly. I can't even say if it's the wrong choice, just surprised me. - Tojo.
I thought they were overacheiving with that roster. Something more to it with player usage perhaps? Doesn't really make sense at face value. |

No I think Hall went there on a one year deal with the expectation of being traded at the deadline. |

Hall just went wherever he could make the most money this season. Winning isn’t too high on his priority list. |

My buddy took a pretty cool sports analytics class at U of Chicago Booth as an elective last year. His proff is big into the Sloan scene and got a handful of FO executives to come in for guest lectures. The gist of what one NFL guy said is that for the most part, GMs/Coaches, etc... have a pretty good grasp of what would be a good idea or not, but the incentive of job security often leads them to make decisions they know have a high likelihood of blowing up. If you do something that goes against common convention and it doesn’t work, your ass is on the chopping block, but if you operate within common convention, you get a lot more roso. The example he used was going for it on 4th down in football. Statistically, you should always go for it on 4th down if you’re within 2 yards of the first down marker regardless of where you are on the field, but coaches don’t do that because it’s not seen as a common practice and if they lose a big game on a 4th down call on their own side of the field, they lose job security. I think the dudes direct quote when giving the talk was “Yeah i knew I should have done this instead of that, but I also didn’t want to deal with packing up my family and moving if it didn’t work out.”
That’s why GM’s give out objectively poopty contracts. No one has the job security to make future-centric move indefinitely. When you have Eichel and just drafted Dahlen, you need to look like you’re keeping up with the arms race, and in Buffalo’s case that meant trading for Jeff Skinner. That part worked, but the optics of letting Skinner walk was too much for Bots to handle. Of course he got canned anyways so it didn’t matter. |

I really don't get it. The Pens are pretty well stocked up on the right side.

Hit the point of the season where the Penguins and Sixers schedule have magically synced up. Hate not having a game on every night, and double hate trying to watch two games at once. |

But who? Ruhwedel? Like what significant trade can be caused by claiming Friedman?

Sometimes a fringe move doesn’t actually matter. |
