I spoke with Madden at a bar in Sewickley. He was doing some promotion with the Flyer t-shirt he sells for charity. He is very approachable, he does like to talk but he will listen. When he found out I lived in Wampum all he wanted to talk about was Sleepy Allen (RIP). The only problem was so many people want a piece of him we didn't talk long.
No, he is nothing like his radio persona. - Thunderbolt
Given that there’s also the flip side where guys are total wet blankets on air but apparently the coolest in person like Joe Buck, I’m not super shocked by this. |

Madden was one of Yohe’s good dudes one time, and he swears he’s a great guy, so maybe. - Victoro311
I have a mutual friend with Madden. He insists MM is a good guy. Treats people really well. Over-tips when he’s out...that kind of thing. He also said if you approach him rudely, you’ll get the guy from his show. |

Sounds like ZAR is getting the first crack next to Malkin and Rust. |

Honestly not mad at that. |

At least with the Friedman signing it shows things are starting to be in the works. |

I heard him say that and went looking. Sounds like they've just been shuffling him back and forth to save cap space with a paper move. |

Wow... probably because he doesn't have to pass through waivers like Friedman would. Just a guess |

OK. Just saw Riikki was a full participant in practice. McCaan skated with a non-contact jersey.
Doesn't seem like Letang is hurt even though he supposedly was tending to an injury the second half of the 3rd last night. |

I hope that's the case. Capfriendly has POJ at $865K cap hit. Are we THAT desperate for space? |

It would be such a Penguin thing for Letang to get injured right when he learned to shoot again. |

Good.
I think he should be tried in Horny's role on PP too...replace Rust with him. Not gonna happen but I do think ZAR has the tools and balls to be effective there. I love Rust, want to keep Rust but dont like him on the PP.

I mean when the coach says this about a players injury “Zuck is a real resilient guy. He's a good pro, he understands the game. And regardless of what kind of news we get, we know he's going to work his tail off to get back as soon as he can."
...you know the player is F'd haha.

I think it depends on how Madden is out of character. I've heard that's all a schtick which would make sense considering he drives ratings through the roof in Pittsburgh and most yinzer fans are dumb enough to blindly follow him and his vague ass opinions.
If he is the smug (frank) he is on the radio, then yeah I'm out.
But I've always thought Burke had some personality when in interviews. - j.boyd919
I played a few games for him as a fill in on his hockey team he coached. He was a good dude. When I need some laughs driving home form work I throw Madden on and him and the yinzers going at is hilarious. |

He was pretty ok with Malkin his rookie season and he’s been having a good season to date. It’s the obvious choice. |

A lot of teams actually do this. It helps create extra cap space for trade deadline acquisitions. |

Caught a little bit of the WBS gane since it's on AT&T tonight. Probably just caught him on a good night, but Radim Zohorna is noticable and I wonder since he's almost 25 if he'd get a look. Pretty nice hands and skating for a 6'6" center. |

Yea I mean why not give him a try for the 4c. I forgot about the game being on, I wanted to watch it. Did he seem to use his size? |
