Lankinen made some good stops at critical times, but he had some lapses that we didn’t see earlier.

On the 1st goal, the puck went under him. That can’t happen, got to have the ice sealed with his pads or stick.

On the 2nd (if memory serves) he mishandled the puck behind the net and got tangled up with one of the D.

On the last, he threw the puck up the boards, right to a BJ. He also got way off the center of the net

I like him, but he needs to get back to bring compact and simple, and work on his puck handling skills.

I’d like to see Subban on Thursday, he’s been pretty solid since his TB game

I think this is exactly correct. Appreciate the balanced approach; some posters here have trouble seeing anything negative in their favorites, while seeing nothing right in their whipping boys.

Here is a stat, Murphy was paired with Zodorov. On 5 x 5 the pair was on the ice for 20 shots for and 12 against. Fancy stats say they played a great game.

That can't be true. I back read last night and got the distinct impression Murphy was terrible.

To bad they sucked on the pk
- BetweenTheDots

Those goals on the PK didn't come from in front of the net. After I give credit to a 50 goal scorer because that is what he does, i blame the top side forwards. Lets see what adjustments JC makes on the PK the next game.

Just looking forward to the next game. Hoping they come up with a plan to disrupt Laine on the PP.
- BetweenTheDots

Watching the game last night I hadn't realized that Patrik Laine is a hulking beast out there. 6"5", 14.71 stone.

And a shout out to the refs, Savard initially not being called for a penalty but taking some liberties on Kane, Kane hacks him out of frustration they send them both to the sin bin. I can at least appreciate that, instead of the call going against Kane while Savard was being a poop head.
- BetweenTheDots

Would you give a shout out to the refs if McDavid was in Kane’s place and Murphy was in Savard’s and they made a retroactive call to even it up?

For sure he would. He loves blaming Murph.

I have it from a good source HawkintheD’s stones reside in his wife’s purse.

I guess that's as safe a place as any.

Edit - I certainly hope Bob isn't the source on his stones.

Those two Laine goals were crazy. Even a 50 goal scorer, though, how many times out of 100 do they place those?

Some were asking last night about the recent difficulties with stopping the Jackets offense. Well, the whiner left and they added a pretty good center and a high end sniper. The game's not very close without those high powered howitzers.

With all of that time and space on both?

Probably many.

They need to make it a little bit hard on him. There was only about an inch of space on Lankinen's short side on the second - perhaps some pressure by Murphy or someone could have been disruptive enough....

Given the time and space you'd be surprised at how good the percentage would be.

Seemed to me that Mitchell had an off night. Really glad to see Murphy back in the lineup, the Hawks lean on him a lot and need him playing.

Lankinen wasn't at the top of his game, but he faced some tough shots also. Not the end of the world if he has an off night now and then, considering he comes up big often at the right time.

Other than he convincing his teammates to NO to restarting, having headaches he's and not having a taste for playing in the midsts of the covid epidemic?

No.

After about a dozen of very good third periods - positively getting them wins or to OT - they have had a couple f bad ones recently - costing them the CBJ game a couple of weeks ago (eerily similar to last nite), turning a close Carolina game into a blowout, costing them a regulation win last nite. Good teams win those thirds and games; not so good teams lose at the end.

If the Hawks continue to basically play “Bettman .500”, how is Bowman going to be a seller at the TDL? Certainly there are candidates to be moved (if they continue to play well) - Soderberg, Janmark, Murphy, deHaan....It’s one thing to say in the offseason (to fans and vet players) that they’re in a rebuild and temper your expectations for a while; if he gives up on making a tournament that is within reach, what does that say to Kane, Keith, whichever vets don’t get moved, even young vets like AdB...and fans?

Well, that’s why Stan makes the big bucks.

- StLBravesFan

I would like to see the Hawks keep Murphy and also Janmark if possible. De Haan can go as well as Soderberg. If Strome played like Soderberg I would keep him as well, not sure he can play that type of game, therefore Strome needs to go as well.

I thought the board didn't want our defenseman to engage the forwards beyond the faceoff dots?
