Every player we put on waivers he should claim. Soon, our farm system becomes theirs. - Hextall271
It’s not that bad...claimed players have to stay on the NHL roster or again pass thru waivers. But still... let’s think about something else instead...
So I have the Lake Tahoe game recorded because my son wants to watch it, and he has asked a couple days in a row now to see it. I didn’t let him stay up originally on a school night. Now I am procrastinating as he likes Hart. Mostly though it’s because he is trying goalie for the first time this week and is understandably excited. Watch it...not watch it...that is the question.

Watch it. If he's trying for the first time it won't matter. |

I'd say so. It takes a special temperament to be a tendy. If he says, jeez I hope I don't play terribly like Hart did.. I'd say, they were weird conditions and he hadn't practiced a lot (Which can be killer for a goalie) |

While Carter would never admit it, I think all the conditions and lack of ability to get used to the rink effected how well he could see the puck. He looked like a guy who wasn't picking it up as quickly as he normally would.
What really aggravated me was that the Flyers should have been shooting from everywhere to test that theory.

It's a great point about shooting. it's like the batter's eye in baseball. You're used to tracking the puck with a backdrop of seats or fans indoors, then all of a sudden it's woods, lake mountains along with sunshine. I can imagine it's hard. It can be hard rink to rink so I can't imagine this. |

Key is to ensure he has fun. If he loves it he'll stick with it and do well.
My little guy is 2.5 and he loves shooting the puck and ball. Had him on outdoor lake a couple times last week on skates and to my amazement, he was able to stand a bit without falling. I think he likes the chaos of the game ahah |

The whole rink looked dark to me. Plus there was only light on three sides, casting these weird shadows everywhere. |

Oh he has fun and he asked to try this so we’ll see. When he was sick with a fever and cold symptoms, he suddenly realized what day it was and jumped up saying he had to get ready to go to hockey. No, not while you’re sick...but I did see how much it means to him.
I think around 3 is such a fun age. Enjoy it!

Byrz was far worse. Not in terms of pure cap %, but in terms of total fallout.
Richards, Carter gone. Vezina Bob gone. Doomed the 2011 team with his distractions and shaky goaltending, which was probably the very last time the Flyers were actually a legit Cup contender. If not for the CBO, Flyers would still be paying him. Or worse, they would have been forced to keep him around for 9-years.

I am glad they were both moved and the returns they garnered. It sucks the team success has not been there though |

You touched on one of the biggest problems I think this Flyers group of forwards have; they have very little shoot-first forwards. I believe there are three types of forward mentalities: shoot first, pass first and cycle first. Players like Raffl, Laughton and NAK are cycle first forwards who will cycle for an entire shift expending loads of energy flipping pucks along the boards, back and forth, but rarely ever get a shot on goal. Then there are players like Voracek, Hayes, Giroux, Patrick and JVR that are pass first players, always looking to make that pretty play or set someone else up instead of shooting the puck. Farabee is becoming more of a shoot first player as he gains confidence, but besides him there is really isn't another Flyers forward that thinks this way. This is a real problem for this team to overcome. It seemed obvious to everyone watching that the Flyers had a huge advantage with the sun setting in Rask's face, that is, obvious to everyone except the Flyers players. |

I'll take the $725K in cap space, one step towards clearing enough space to get Ekholm baby!!

Yep. I said that to my dad. The sun was in Rask's eyes for the first 15 minutes. They should've thrown everything at him.

I'm very sorry to hear about Gary Innes, I remember him well from his time in Pittsburgh and was sorry to see him leave. I recently lost a friend who suffered from early dementia. It is a vary hard experience for both the sufferer and his family.
