I've always liked Rittich, I wouldn't hate to see him replace Andersen and do 1A/1B with Campbell next season. There I said it... 😬 - joel878
Interesting thought.
I'm not sure you are not just getting the same as what you have now from a consistency perspective. Playoff performance comparison is not available because Rittich has a whopping 1 playoff performance with a GAA of 10.85 (3 goals against on 9 shots).
When he is on he looks dynamite, but when he is off - not so much.
You can use that last sentence to describe either of these 2 goalies.
Cost wise- Rittich is in the last year of his deal at 2.75 Million per year
Age wise he is 2 years younger than Andersen
So there may (likely is) an opportunity to save some $ and get a younger goalie for a couple of years if he wants to play here, the big if is does he give you more than you have now consistently in Andersen and how does not resigning Andersen impact the team (if he is close to guys like AM and Marner which I think he is).
It's worth investigating at least and/or using that as leverage when you discuss a new deal with Andersen if you want him to take a pay cut.
I just wonder how good a full Andersen / Campbell tandem would be - we haven't really got to see it yet due to injuries.
Personally I'd prefer to keep Andersen at 5 M (or less) but I recognize my bias in this - I like Red Head Fred.

Palmateer trivia:
He did a motor oil commercial - he protected the net like the motor oil would protect your engine.
They filmed another goalie making all the saves (with his mask on), and then at the end of the commercial, Palmateer popped off his mask to reveal it was him.
But since the stunt-double goalie was not a lefty, they had to reverse the film.
They got the goalie from the Toronto Marlboroughs, but he went on to have a successful NHL and international career of his own.
Who was the stunt-double goalie?
