I really hope he pans out but I’ve been preparing myself for the worst with him. Despite the 15 goals, he only has 8 assists and almost identical point total to 2 seasons ago. Kaprizov was a PPG player in the KHL at his age and was a 5th round pick. His skill is obvious but I just can’t help but feel something is lacking in his overall game. Or maybe it’s just the perceived attitude issues? Hope he proves me wrong!
Edit: not trying to be negative, just tempering expectations before he crushes my hopes and dreams. - TC88

look at these picks the Rangers made before Kaprizov was picked in 5th round by Minnesota in 2015

Thanks for the Panarin stat and for looking on the bright side. I definitely think Kravtsov can be a star, I’m just not letting myself get too excited just yet.
And that’s unreal, I remember when Gropp was our top prospect lol. And before that Grachev. We’ve come a longggg way. I just went down the same Kaprizov rabbit hole, looks like he legit broke out right after the draft that year. He’s fun to watch.

I did the same for Fox. Nice to get him, but I wasn't going to get excited just to be let down. Now I'm amazed nightly at how good he is.
Its a good strategy, you can never feel let down by a player. |

Exactly. We’ve just been burned far too many times. Lias Andersson should hurt more, but that really was a crap draft class. Now all we have to hope for is that Cuylle becomes a better pro than Mittlestadt. I’d actually bet on that one. |

Kravstov’s regular season ended today in KHL.
and he tied the game with 4 seconds left to send it to overtime where his team won
Playoffs in KHL start Tuesday
Hopefully his team gets eliminated quickly - jimbro83

ironically enough, the English translation of the Russian word "Buchnevich" is "ill advised cross ice pass"

Miller looks like the second coming of Chara with how active his stick is. Our defense is going to be sick in a few years.
I can’t wait to see what Nils, Jones and Schneider have in store
If there’s one thing the scouting team has done right lately, it’s drafting defensemen. Imagine we get Powers or Hughes... |

I guess Gauthier's shot grazed Di Guiseppe on the way in |

Yeah, I thought it redirected live. Still a really great play by JG. Exactly the type of energy he needs to bring each shift. |

I feel like we are so stacked and if we find ourselves in a position to get one of those kids too, they have to seize the opportunity and make a franchise center happen out of it. somehow some way.
whether they trade the pick, or pick one of those kids and trade something they already have, they need to make it happen. This summer.

I absolutely agree, just speculating if they don’t trade that pick.
If I were JD/Gorton and we had a top 3 pick, I’d A) look for a team that will trade us a true #1 center straight up for the pick or something like Eichel for the pick and another prospect; B) trade down to the 4-6 range and take either of the Michigan C’s, while also trying to get more picks in the trade down and taking even more Cs with those picks; C) trade down to the 10-15 range and have a second line C and a boat load of future firsts be part of the deal.
Preference in that order |

I doubt they could see that drop off coming as he had 3 previous seasons of 49 points or more going into that. They probably thought the change of scenery was going to keep him being close to a 40 goal guy but money changes peoples work ethics. I wonder if there will be a desire from owners in the next CBA to go to NFL style non guaranteed contracts so when you cut a guy you don't owe him the money. Players association would fight that I'm sure but would surprise me to see the owners go for it.

Awful contract. I get that he scored 40 goals his contract year but he was only a .75 PPG player that season and has been between 0.5-0.75 his whole career. They might not be able to trade him even if they retained 50%. |

A lot of bad contacts in the NHL. Something need to be done. Lots of players that are getting sweet contract that cannot generate offense on their own. |
