Again why don't we have more of these hits in the NHL? Wouldn't it be fun just to hit anyone at any time?

He needed another on Giroux to get 1 game. We both know these hits end up in 2 minutes interference most of the time. Because it's Wilson, ya'll throwing up a fit.

Well obviously people are just jealous of Wilson, it's not like Wilson has blindsided another player who doesn't even have the puck before....

The hit was through the chest and Tom Wilson did not leave his feet. HOWEVER, the hit was very late and I think he will certainly be getting a call from the league considering his history. I have no idea what the exact definition of a suspendable hit is but with Tom Wilson’s history of suspensions, I would imagine he gets served some form of suspension for this hit.
As a Caps fan, I think Wilson should be punished for these types of hits. I am in favor of a small suspension. With that being said, Tom Wilson has really evolved his all-around game since his 20-game (reduced to 14-game) suspension from the hit on St. Louis Blues Oskar Sundqvist. I thought the suspension time helped him settle down. He has played marvelous hockey since that big suspension and he has showed the people who pay attention just how amazing of a hockey player he can consistently be for this team when he is focused. Tom Wilson is having one of his best years ever. His .411 goals/game puts him on pace for what would be 34 goals in a 82-game season (career high.) His .823 points per game also puts him on pace for roughly 68 points in an 82-game season, also a career high. - Brian Sickles
Quantify very late. It shouldn’t be that hard for people to use the clock to provide evidence to accompany their outrage/accusations.

Wilson should be thrown out of the league. His only purpose is to end careers. Wilson is the reason the capitals are my most disliked team in the league. - Hockeyislife

The same amount of time it takes to realize they don't have the puck anymore. If it takes a person 2 seconds or more than they may want to see a doctor because they are obviously slower to process information than the average human being.

Hate to break it to you but Wilson is an NHL player and he doesn’t take two seconds to cover five feet of ice like you do. (frank)ing bender.

How many seconds beyond the allowable limit was Wilson?
Simple question that should have a simple answer. Not some subjective nonsense like “time it takes to realize...”

Well first off, it was not milliseconds off like you tried to paint the narrative in a prior comment.
Secondly, I don't play the weird liberal games where I need to answer an exact number to specify when a hit is late. According to the rulebook the hit would be late if the referee deems the hit as interference. I guess we have to go back to check if an interference call was made...
Thirdly, if you don't want a "subjective nonsense" answer, but want a simple one then that is answer is...did the player have controlled possession of the puck prior to the hit then the answer is a giant non-subjective NO.

Get back to your beer league ball tourney and leave your terminology that only bad players use at the door.
Wilson tried to make a nasty hit against NYR last weekend. This hit is late. How can you think otherwise unless you have not pkayed the game. He had all the time in the world to peel off and keep skating, he glided right in for the kill. This guy knows what he is doing and he's walking the line between a big hit and ending someone's career.
One day somebody is going to hit him late and give him a concussion, I guess that's when he'll realize he needs to change his game.
This is not about the NHL eliminating hits, but the hits intended to take a player out of the game or the season need to be kept in "check".
