Nothing wrong with good hits, not 4 seconds after the puck is gone
- Buff36

OK...I'll bite....

First, I get the hyperbole...I think we can both agree that it wasn't four seconds late...if you don't believe me, believe the clock in the upper right hand corner of the video documenting the hit - Jankowski bats puck with 4:38 remaining in the period, Wilson contacts Jankowski at 4:37 remaining. YouTube video below for reference.

Second, Jankowski was facing Wilson directly. He wasn't unsuspecting or even in a vulnerable position.

Third, Wilson lowers his shoulder directly into Jankowski's chest - no contact with the head...at all. We have to agree the hit, while I will grant was a tad late (clearly not 4 seconds as you suggest), was a clean hit.

Fourth, the hit was a hard hit, but that doesn't make it a suspendable play.

The hit was hard, clean, and a tad late....two minutes interference seems right....

and for you? two minutes unsportsmanlike.

The hit was about one second late. Here's a screen cap of the YouTube video at the exact moment when Jankowski swats the puck:

...and here's a cap of the video at the exact moment when Wilson hits Jankowski:

Only one second has elapsed on both the play clock and the Youtube video timer.

Yes, the hit was late, but not significantly. For most players, the penalty would have been sufficient discipline. For Wilson, he might get a fine. I don't think a suspension is warranted.

It's called a joke, and don't think he should be suspended. But it's Wilson and he could have avoided it.

Technically it's called "exaggeration" or "hyperbole" but I take your point.

But if it happened to Stamkos or Point you would be calling for his head. I was joking but people say stuff until it happens to someone on there team.

Has Wilson ever had a good hard clean hit not from the blindside, while the guy had the puck actually on his stick? For that matter has he ever won a fight against a worthy opponent? He should quit the tough guy act and just play hockey because he’s way better at hockey than trying to be tough.

I didn’t even think it was late, the guy just hit the puck. It’s called finishing your check, at least it was at 1 time.
- Garnie

It was late. That kind of "finishing the check" leads to injuries.
