Vancouver has a really good young team, Benning has also been solid as GM, The weak link Is a young Inexperienced coach. Travis Green has to go. |

What would terminating Benning do at this point? Is where we are why Linden left the team?
I know hockey is about not making excuses but this season feels like a tornado of bad situations piled on top of each other.
I don’t really care if the Canucks get on a heater anytime soon. This season is done and clearing the way for next season should be about the only priority. |

Benning is an awful GM.
Travis Green was a poor choice for head coach.
Both need to go. Hopefully by the end of the day. |

Thanks Carol.
I remember the fire Gillis chants really well at the last game. Those same fans are now pining for his return.
Fans want an experienced coach and an experienced GM . So I see now they want Linden Gilman and Luongo. That screams years of GM experience.
I can't wait for Julien to arrive , he had so much success motivating the high octane Habs |

Carol Schram: The fanbase is getting restless, again. Canucks are shut out by the Oilers
For the first time this season, the Vancouver Canucks have three days off between games. Will Jim Benning speak publicly about a year that is now even further off the rails following back-to-back losses to the Edmonton Oilers? - Carol Schram
Thanks Carol but to be honest, as eloquent as Benning is at public speaking, I don’t think his words could comfort this frustrated fan base. |

Thanks Carol,
Totally agree with this comment on JB.

At this point this would be the first step. Paying two GM's for the remainder of the season makes zero sense. |

I agree with Bloated, Benning saying anything will just pour gasoline on the fire.
I want to hear Aquilini explaining why he fired Benning. |

Why does Benning have to come out and state the obvious.
Presser @ 12.30
Benning comes out in his Elmer Fudd voice and says "We stink , badee badee badee That's all folks"
Are we that fragile we need the GM to come out and give us words of comfort?
I haven't seen Gorton Treliving Poille or Bergevin before the coaching change come out to comfort their fan bases.
Reports are Benning is busy on the phones and hopefully he stays there. |

That is what I mentioned he had a presser for the coach change, before that he was silent.

I agree TG has to go but I don’t agree with this inexperienced excuse. He’s been a hockey coach for ten years now with roughly 600 games coached (in total) between amateur and pro levels.
This is his forth year at the Canuck helm. Time for him to own this mess along with the guy who hired him.
The team owner also needs to own this because he assembled an inexperienced management group seven years ago to lead this team through a historically significant rebuild that would be difficult even for the most experienced management crew.
Let’s say the Canucks were a publicly traded company that needed to be restructured and you were a major investor/stock holder. Would you be happy with a totally unproven management team to protect your investment through a difficult transition?
I know I wouldn’t. |

I don't care if Benning comes out as says anything or not, I would actually prefer to never hear him speak again.
As was mentioned late in the last thread, it is not just one thing that is wrong with this team, at the moment, it appears to be several issues, all at once.
Let's start the process of retooling, start with Pearson and go from there.

But what is he going to say? Every time he opens his mouth something stupid comes out of it. He has no professional business acumen whatsoever, and he knows this after some years in this market, which is why he's laying low.

That is where I would start. Pick up a second and a third and call it a day.
In the offseason change your entire coaching staff and draft well.
