Your Oilers could use a 3LC and a veteran defenseman, if they hope to be relevant, this season.
They looked awful the last 3 games. - Reubenkincade
Ya they are in a funk for sure great post-game words by Draisaitl last night he was giving it to the press for asking stupid questions...
I maintained before that Sutter to EDM at 3LC would be a good move.
Not sure what's coming back however. |

Canucks would probably have to retain some salary, take back Turris, but get someone like Raphael Lavoie or Ryan MacLeod. |

What do you think odds are if Hughes is there at 5 or 6 the Canucks don't take him?
Doesn't seem like there are too many RHD at the top of the board. Wouldn't mind them getting another high ranked center, the LHD is so clogged. - NewYorkNuck
I bet NJD take Luke Hughes.

I don't think taking $ back in any deal is an option.

I don't think they'll finish low enough. But if they do, I think that's a safe bet. Unless the Canucks get to him first? |

Power would be franchise altering.

I don't know about that? They said the same thing about Dahlin Jack Hughes and Lafrenierre and it hasn't been anything close to it.

I am not saying I would like to see them take money back, but in order to get a young player with potential, like the 2 I mentioned you may have to, or just let Sutter's contract expire.
Turris is a cheap buyout, or a cheap temporary centre for next season.
The organization doesn't have much in the way of centres. |

I'm happy with a top 10 pick, we're not lucky enough to move up in the lottery.

Let the bad deals expire, it's clear JB is unable to move them.

I don't know about Jack Hughes or Alice Lafrenierre but Rasmus Dahlin is a tremendous player. He's 20 years old and he's already had two 40 point seasons as a defenceman, one of them in 59 games, add to that he's 6'3" 210 lbs and skates extremely well.
He's playing for a sour messed up franchise, given the right circumstances I bet he's a Norris Trophy candidate by his mid 20's....awesome player!! |

Truthfully I am more interested in a center.
Sure if you get 1OA you take the top guy but I think Canucks are okay at D and will be getting better. We drafted heavy last year on D .

He may be good but he is not a franchise changer.

Luck is where opportunity meets preparation, much like 2017 when the four teams above us didn't take Elias Pettersson but Benning and Brackett did their homework and took the best forward in the draft at #5. |

Totally get that, but, they will still need at least one centre next season, hopefully Lind can take the 3LC, but Beagle needs to be replaced, with someone and I don't trust Benning to get a cheap replacement and Turris would be somewhat reasonable at 1.65m, plus you get a decent prospect.

He sure does. Woo also looks like a NHL player. I watched him moving the puck last night he has some skill. Be patient with him be he looks like two years in the AHL will be good for him.

Perhaps, but very few defencemen come into the league and set it on fire before the age of 25. Given time I think he'll be a franchise player.
Just my opinion as I look at guys like Nick Lidstrom who didn't win a Norris until he was in his late 20's or 30. Chara was a franchise guy but not until he was on his third team in Boston at age 29. Pronger was 25 when he won the Norris. Duncan Keith 26. Scott Niedermayer 30.
Hell I think Quinn Hughes is a franchise changer even though he's struggling defensively, once he gets better at that he's going to make Vancouver a much better team in the future. |

Agree...that was a nice pick, assuming he makes the team next year. Scouting staff may have hit a homerun with this kid |

I get it.
I was more or less just saying that most of these young high draft picks usually add to the puzzle. Very few change the complexion. I think Powers would be a nice piece but is not the missing piece.

Victor Hedman, currently the best defenseman in the league, didn't get to 30+ points until his 5th season.
