An old declining goalie,
A dim manager’s off season acquisition,
Flashing light! Another goal against.

No complaints about what Hughes was trying to do on that defensive coverage?

I get it but with his stats and stature did you really expect much defence from him? I always thought if he becomes a “plus” player that he’ll be so much fun to watch. Just out score/out point your defensive deficiencies and I’m cool.

Get back to exciting hockey.

I get that many of the fanbase loves this so called exciting hockey. I like exciting hockey as well, but I don't like players who are absolutely clueless about playing some pretty basic defense.

True, but it’s surprising how much the NHL has become a development league. It seems that more and more players are joining the league right out of junior. NHL coaches are having to teach these guys pro hockey while maintaining a competitive team. Hard to do. If the coaching staff isn’t up to the task then it’s going to be noticeable on the ice and on the scoreboard.

Hughes is still young and learning. Hope he’s getting decent teaching.

I don't think he is getting decent coaching, or he isn't listening. Nor do I see him getting reprimanded/benched for making the same mistakes over and over and over again.
The 2 goals against were an indirect result of him puckwatching or puckchasing and the other high quality chance(Kyle Connor) was another result of him not being aware in his own end.

Nice to see some sustained zone pressure for once, but they're not really getting many quality shots off of that pressure, Jets are actually doing a solid job of keeping the Canucks to the outside on those shifts. It's just a lot of passing and skating around the perimeter

It's like if a Canadian Tire version of Vanilla Ice used a free autotune program in the voice of Eminem to rap lyrics he stole from the comment section on Proud Boy's YouTube channel.

Just complete trash.

Sutter was a joke on that 2nd goal, but I agree that Hughes' defense needs work.

Yup. I think he’s playing too much. Needs more protected minutes and get him lots of PP time where he has a bit of room to skate and not worry about actually playing defence.

I think his minutes reflect the team’s poor defensive depth.

Ya, Sutter blew that for sure, but, again where was that defenseman that should have been on that side?
He was busy puckchasing.

I’m totally committed to the fact that it’s all about goaltending. That bottom six looks great with good goaltending. It even makes the coach and GM appear more competent.

I mean the bubble was the best proof of it. Vezina goaltending covered up the warts and tricked management/media/fans
