Man for all the love Eichel gets around here, I thought he was invisible most of the night. Probably a product of who he's playing with. But for a guy that's apparently worth Laf or Kakko, Lindgren, Nils, an NHL centerman and two first, who he's playing with shouldn't be a factor at all.

Dude hasn't scored against anyone but the Rangers this year.

Yeah. I gotta say if they empty the cupboard for this guy I might not be a happy camper.

I honestly don't think it will happen. I don't think Buffalo has the balls to do it. They know once they trade him the franchise becomes irrelevant again.

and last year's Zibinajed takes that great pass from Lafreniere and scores on a breakway

this year's version (frank)s it up

- jimbro83

Laf could of easily had 3 points last night. That pass to Zib that he couldn't handle and the one that bounced over Buch's stick for an empty netter early in the 3rd period.

I just don't think he's actually worth that astronomical/video game price tag that has been floated. His real value is a probably three very strong pieces, maybe a little more. Buffalo isn't going to move him for that.

Unfortunately age catches us all and cognitive decline will occur. It definitely feels close to another "end of an era" for the Rangers with Sam. Which is depressing.

For sure. I already went through this with Bob Cole. The voice of Hockey Night in Canada through my youth. I couldn't stand listening to him for YEARS before he finally let it go less than 2 years ago!

I thought Chytil looked right on track last night. He's so noticeable on the ice with his speed. Also, puts him self in really good position in the offensive zone. Expecting big things from him the rest of the way.

Laf heat check? Now that he's on the score sheet in three straight games and has a point in 4 of 5, are people still concerned? Serious question, not trying to stir sh*t up

- Bean_Dip

Not as much. Laf seems to have settled in a bit now. Definitely seeing some more higher end skill plays from him. Having Zib on his line is basically a negative, so that also counts for something

Kreider is absolutely scorching brah

you know what could be true?

three top line left wings, Panarin, Kreider and Lafreniere, and with Panarin out, both Kreider and Laf are getting the scoring opportunities Panarin would be getting

this is gonna be an interesting thing to watch for years, because none of these three guys are going anywhere for the bulk of this whole decade

True on both.
I can't fault Mika so much, though. He's definitely off, but that pass was something else. It was a laser through 2 sticks at an almost zero angle. Very tough pass to handle, and it probably gets tipped 98% of the time. He probably didn't expect it to make it to him.
Buch, I think just got excited knowing he had an open net and took his eye off of it. Less acceptable to me.
Either way, many of our pieces are falling into place!! Even if this season is out of reach, I like the upward trajectory!!

Despite the obvious offensive struggles, I thought Zib was better. Not great, but better. He's just getting so unlucky

And if we can straighten out assignments and growth charts for Kakko, Kravstov and Gautier on the right (depending on Buch) things are looking real good for the Roaring 20's!!! The D corp is going to be the envy of most of the league. Goaltending is solid. We really only need Mika to return to wherever his normal is and maybe one center pick up and we really will be a complete roster!!!

Zib was just white hot last year, especially towards the end. All of these plays he's coming up short on this year would've ended up in the net last year. At some point something's gotta give

Yep. I honestly think he has a mental hurdle to clear. His skating, positioning, passing and vision are looking real good.

I agree. I don't think this is his norm, but I doubt last year was it either. His career shooting percentage is pretty much smack in the middle of where he was last year and where he is now.

I still think he is pretty useless except on the PK. He needs a (frank)ing shrink

Yep, every year Kreider starts slow. Why I was the only one on the blog not freaking out wanting him traded when he was quiet for a bit

Kreider could have 1 goal for the year and you wouldn't want him traded. Lets put the cards on the table.

there's too many wingers, and with the addition of Blackwell, who is marvelous at a 700k cap hit next year by the way, something has to give eventually
