But he (Gillis) didn't, he left the organization with next to nothing for prospects because they were competing for a Cup but that hardly means Jim Benning had nothing to work with...that is complete and utter nonsense.

As I mentioned, Benning had tons of cap space with which he used to stay competitive signing Miller and Vrbata. He also had good draft picks by trading a few players but he wasted them on guys who turned out to be nothing.

If another GM was to take over next year he'd have Podkolzin, Lind, Woo and Gadjovich as prospects, which is very Mike Gillis level.

Plus Benning inherited Brendan Gaunce.

Any word on a starter for tonight (this afternoon)? Hoping they run with Demko, he's earned it.

It’s a Saturday game against the Leafs. You got to put your best goalie in net. You have to play your future #1 in meaningful situations.

Green will probably go with Holtby.

Why does it almost always have to be a fuckshow around Vancouver’s NHL team? It probably isn’t as much as I think it is, we’re just stuck in a seemingly endless rut right now.

2008 to 2012 was great, 2000 to 2004 was great, 1991 to 1996 was pretty good as well, that’s 15 years of good to great hockey in the past thirty years I guess.

It’s never as bad as it seems, however, when we’re low we’re really low.

Seems to be five year spurts of good hockey and then total devastation
