Of course isn’t that why us numbskulls come here
I think Nite the Cap Crusader had mentioned the trading Varly angle on here, - nyisles7
I think someone mentioned Seattle taking him IF Sorokin shows he can be a #1 by the time the expansion draft rolls around. Hypothetical |

Even if Seattle won’t, his numbers and contract are more than good enough to entice a team. Buffalo for example. |

I believe the thought process was Seattle would take him and it wouldn’t cost us an asset of course while unloading some salary. This was IF and only if Sorokin was deemed a #1 by that point which seems unrealistic. I also doubt Lameriello does this and would most likely give up a decent asset with salary to avoid it. |

Seems most likely that they'll be able to protect everyone they want to and Seattle can just choose from whatever is left. Staple has suggested Koivula a few times.
Maybe we just trade them Aho, in return for taking the final year of Komarov's deal?
Or maybe it's something bigger for Ladd. Bellows + Aho and they select Ladd, who grew up not far from there?
I don't think the draft will be a big problem for the Isles, honestly. |

I don't think any team will take Ladd off our hands. We're stuck with him for the next few years. |

It wasn’t my idea just reiterating what I remember someone else posting BUT not sure I want to get rid of Koivula. I say that knowing that they probably aren’t going to give the kid a real opportunity I just think they should especially with Cizikas’s needing a new contract. I guess it’s a forgone conclusion they’re resigning him which I don’t necessarily agree OR disagree with because we know what that contract will look like...
I’ll wait for someone’s head to explode after reading this. |

Don't really disagree, but with only two years left on his deal and making $1.5M less than his cap hit....an expansion team could go for a little veteran presence if we're greasing them with a couple of decent prospects. Not getting my hopes up, but who knows.
I still think Aho is a good prospect, not a top-pairing defenseman but I think he could be a very useful 4-5-6 guy. Bellows is a bit trickier. |

I'm not dying to get rid of Koivula, but if we're not offering any kind of deal to Seattle to take someone specific and they don't want to take on a player with a bigger salary then Koivula is probably the most attractive guy that'll be available. He's got decent upside, he's a center, and he's young/cheap/controllable.
Or we could always leave Bailey exposed and see if they bite on him. Leaves a hole at RW but with the way Wahlstrom is playing that might be one that could be filled internally. |

I mean Peter Chiarelli was a GM for how many years?
I'm not sitting here saying it's likely by any means. Just that they might be interested in adding a couple of young prospects and Ladd's contract gets slightly easier to stomach every year that passes. |

I get what you're saying. However I think the Isles would have to give up way too much to incentivize another team to take him.

Entirely possible, if not likely. I also don't think they can really afford to part with their first round pick...so maybe they just protect whoever and let the chips fall as they may. |

I'm intrigued with exposing Bailey. I'm not saying they should, but I think that would be a tough choice for Seattle. |

I am hoping that either Nashville or buffalo sell off their team and need a terrible contract just to get to the cap floor and takes ladd disgusting contract. I dont see him retiring . I think this is the only way we can get rid of this terrible contract |

Ahhh that is true but I thought he was referring to cizikas due to what chiefs and I were discussing... Also, Clutterbuck has another year on his contract so he won’t need to get resigned(he damn well better not) next year. |

If I had to choose between exposing him or Eberle, I think I'd probably lean Bailey. Eberle would take an extra 500k off the cap, but he's playing well right now and Bailey has been a little inconsistent |
