I mistakenly believed it was best to keep Blash to stockpile high draft picks. I firmly believe Detroit needs a star player and for the past several years, there was no reason to not be last. Now that we know Detroit won't get an opportunity to draft a real all-star caliber player, now I believe we need to field a competitive team and get him the heck out.

I have a feeling they'll allow Detroit to get a top pick this year, then award next year's to NYR, NJ or Buffalo again. Maybe Chicago...who knows...

I'd rather Detroit have the top pick in 2022. If we could win the Shane Wright Sweepstakes that would speed this rebuild up exponentially..

I don't think it's ever a particularly good idea to keep around a coach you know is bad just for the sake of tanking. I think the harm you can do to team culture, instilling bad habits in young players, etc. outweighs the benefit of having a few extra ping pong balls in the hopper.

You should always want the best performance you can get out of your players and coaches IMO. It's on the GM to determine whether to prioritize short-term success or long-term potential.

Yeah but maybe a better team might want him.....But there are few good options at goal that will be available as FA....
